Doesn’t she, though? Plus, she has light blonde hair, which makes the black look even better. I’ve been trying to find a bright scarf like hers to mimic the outfit. But all black just doesn’t look as great on me, so I’d need the scarf. But I just love the coated jeans and black boots combo. What makes it work is the boot calf is snug, not wide. Nice clean line.
edit: I think I found the scarf. It’s called WHBM Viola. Tons out there on eBay and Poshmark. eBay has better prices. I bought one. If it’s not it, it’s close enough. But she loves WHBM, so I’m sure it’s that one.
That’s a beautiful scarf. I wear scarves pretty often at work but haven’t thought about them for weekend events. That pop of color is fun! I will keep that in mind when wearing all black (frequently, lol)!
So, this is my outfit I’m wearing this afternoon, my sister is taking me to lunch. I’m wearing the coated jeans like @Hoggirl has and mentioned. You can also wear tan boots with any color coated. Grey, burgundy, etc.
I bought this very lightweight crepe fabric jacket from Shein. My first purchase. Do you pronounce it She-in, Shane, Shine?
My 29 year old hair stylist buys from there all the time and her clothes are so cute I thought I’d try. Her mom, who can afford anything, does
I have a friend who is a big fan of Quince, but also buys more expensive clothes. Recently, she was telling a story about how she ended up in the ER because she was dehydrated and was telling the nurse to be careful because she was wearing one her her good cashmere sweaters not the cheap one from Quince!
I am not a department store or mall girly - can’t remember the last time I frequented either - probably when shopping for a MOB dress in 2024!
Decided to take a spin at one of our outdoor malls which is seeing a revival in stores - previously not much to go there for (had places like JJill, Chicos, WHBM etc. which are fine but not my vibe). They recently added a J Crew Factory, Anthropologie, a local to our area outdoor wear type store, Athleta and Lulu is coming (also, Shake Shack - a big deal in our area!).
I was happy to see that the Anthro was a good sized store - we often will get a store, then small-size it and then it doesn’t do well.
Was doing more browsing but did pick up a couple of J Crew layering short and long sleeve tees (I’m fussy about weight - these are very lightweight) and one in a beautiful berry color (sort of plum?) that I have purchased a couple of items in that color this year - really pretty.
I tried on a Vuori down vest that looked great on the hanger and I liked the detail features of it - I just felt I was between sizes for the best fit - the medium I’d like slightly larger, the large I’d like slightly smaller - so I passed for now even though they were 20% off that day. Canyon Insulated Vest | Bone Lightweight Vest | Vuori
$158 is a lot for a vest (for me) but also I’ve been eyeing up a Patagonia one which is even more (!) - I guess with popularity they can ask whatever price they like!
Anyway, it was fun to do a little window shopping. Something I don’t do much in person.
I’m glad your shopping options are getting an upgrade!
We have a very busy outdoor shopping mall nearby. It’s busy because it has a TJ! And a Whole Foods. There is a small Lulu, a larger Athleta, also Purpose (a local boutique), kids toy store, and a whole bunch of skin care and beauty shops. And a Rack! I like to window shop there and occasionally pick up a thing or two.
I am too fussy about fit and totally agree that at that price, a vest must fit perfectly!
Thanks @bunsenburner! I honestly never knew they were out! I always considered knee high boots a staple, just different kinds that were trendy, ie; wedges, block heel, slouchy, etc.
Thanks, I also like nipped In waist jackets. Now I know how to pronounce it, I was saying Shine.
I ordered another sweater from Shein. $22 I typically don’t wear turtleneck or mock neck, but it was so unique. I also never wear this color, but I matches a pair of animal print wide leg cropped pants I bought. I’ll post it.
@abasket, do you shop at Anthro? I couldn’t tell whether their clothes were for you or not our nearest other mall is 50 minutes away I never go there , I wish it were closer
I am someone who might shop there when they have 50% off the 50% off.
While I like the look of their Somerset dresses, they are not for me as just too much dress/material. What I do like about their clothing products is they incorporate a lot of color. I also happen to enjoy browsing their home decor products.
I overall tend to prefer non-winter based clothing. I am not a sweater girl. I don’t like bulk. I am someone who is either going to spend a decent amount of $$ (to me) on a classic, clothing basic that is sustainable for a long time - or I shop at a thrift or consignment store, looking for some of those same things! I don’t dress up much and don’t really care to dress up - I’m definitely casual but like to be stylish casual - if that makes sense!
I did see this dress there and had my hands on it a couple times to try it on. The colors were a little more vibrant in person (but didn’t scream “holiday”) - I would wear it with black tights which would for me make the shortness of it ok. It was so fun and cute! I just have no reason to have it. I’m ok to walk away.
I like that dress and I could see buying it. Of course I’d get the black or the gray print. I could see wearing it casually with black leggings or tights. I love dresses but I find unless it is casual that can be worn for everyday errands I don’t have anywhere to wear them. I bought a beautiful Farm Rio dress from Anthropologie for a wedding but I see it now sitting in my closet unless I have another evening wedding.
@abasket the same thing happened in my town where when they opened stores they tend to be small without a full selection and end up not making it. Both the malls in my area are almost empty. All but one Macy’s have closed. I find it cuts down on browsing shopping.
