Thank you! I will let her know about this website.
I think D paid $10 or something for them to send her several different dresses in her approximately size to try and then she chose style she liked best and I helped measure her for size and they made it to her measurements and contributed toward her hemming.
The price was pretty reasonable imho and much better fit than another company used by my niece the other time D was in a wedding. That other company claimed to make to order but D had dressmaker measure her but dress didn’t fit at all and she had to order a 2nd dress that also didn’t fit well (don’t remember name if that company).
Very pretty! That would be great for a baby shower!
Not necessarily dressing young but I’m considering one of these two aqua/mint rain jackets for our trip next year and for general wear on the few rainy winter days here in San Diego. I’m not really sure if there’s much difference? Should I just go with whichever goes on sale first?
The jacket I’ve been wearing forever (have replaced the buttons multiple times) is like the beige one in the photo but in cornflower blue. It’s fine but not rainproof and somewhat long.
Those two look pretty comparable to me, so you could probably go with either without thinking about it again. I like the lighter blue one better, but that’s just my taste!
Adding that I thought the silvery one in your photo was quite fun and a tad different. Really like that one.
Reading the first descriptinon, I liked that it was waterproof and breathable. I laughed a bit at this typo - “Enough length just reaches the hip, slim fit fashionable style is more suitable for tall woman over 5’30";” - Five foot thirty inches? That quite the giant.
This is my actual jacket which is perfectly fine except not rainproof. It’s probably 30 years old, if not more. And it’s pretty long - more coat than jacket length. Husband thinks it’s too much coat for the NZ/Oz trip next Feb.
Outdoor Ventures is a reputable brand with well made products. I’d go with that jacket!
Is your husband trying to hint that you need an update?
Waterproof etc. fabrics have come a long way in the 30 years since you bought your jacket! You deserve an upgrade! ![]()
Husband has no concept of fashion
- he just knows what he thinks.
Waterproof is key! Length is a trickier one. I prefer a bit shorter for ease of movement and portability but realize that exposes more if it’s really wet. It’s very much about what you’re using it for.
I got this one last year and really like it. I wore it the past few days here since it’s been raining. It is water proof.
Nice looking but longer (and more expensive) than I’d prefer. Husband plans to bring a rain poncho but I hate pulling them over my head (he doesn’t wear glasses).
Hmm…this looks interesting: SaphiRose Rain Poncho Jacket Coat Hooded for Adults with Pockets https://a.co/d/7iGhDTQ
The poncho looks interesting, but I personally think a jacket would be preferable and more versatile in the long run even though it might be more expensive upfront.
The jacket is not inexpensive, but if you keep it for several years, a good jacket is worth it.
Agree - especially a rain jacket that is only used for certain circumstances so can have a longer closet life if you go classic.
And def get something waterproof - if it ain’t waterproof it ain’t a rain jacket!
I see lots of rain jackets when I go thrifting. If you have time @Marilyn and you like to do that sort of thing, you might find a nice one for a fraction of the cost. I have a Cole Haan one in my closet that is classic, has a removable hood and packable - I paid under $10 for it.
Thanks all, I am definitely going for the Outdoor Ventures one in mint blue. It was reduced price last week so hoping that happens again next week.
Depending on what they are made of, they can become less water repellent with washing. But depending on how you are using it, it may rarely need to be washed. Just another consideration which also factors into cost (and was prompted by the comment about them being in thrift shops.)
They look VERY similar to me. I’d go with whichever color you like best, all else being equal.
The nice thing is they both appear to have very similar features, including the mesh lining. I’m sure you won’t go wrong with either quality choice!
This jacket was recommended on a travel site I’m following. https://www.amazon.com/LOMON-Raincoat-Waterproof-Hooded-Windbreaker/dp/B07N4TD7TP
