I don’t think a dress should be ruled out because one’s body may not be exactly “‘model quality.” I’m a good 3-4 inches shorter than an average model and probably 20-30 pounds heavier, but I don’t think the dress looks inappropriate on me. I’ll take a photo when it’s daylight, and you’ll be the judges.
Yea, I definitely don’t have the waist of a model, nor the hips (I have a larger waist and pretty non-existent hips), but I still look good in a lot of dresses & most garments because my chest makes it APPEAR that I have a waist, since it’s larger than my waist and hips. I APPEAR to have an hourglass figure (if you ignore the thick, but not bulging waist).
LOL - just as I’ve been pondering give-away of my knee length tweedish wool coat
I normally try not to buy clothes/shoes from companies based in China, but my sister had on some really cute leopard print mules and I decided to check out their website. I ended up getting these burgundy boots and I’m pretty happy with them. They will be good for the holidays but also for work with pants and skirts. The heel is pretty low so they are quite comfortable.
We had lunch with my SIL yesterday, and she moved from NY to the south several years ago. She says she now uses Rent the Runway if she needs a winter coat and even for sweaters. I think she said you can get 5 things for a month for $100 bucks. Anyone else do something like that?
I think I asked here if anyone had any experience with Anatomie travel clothing. Apparently it is supposed to be very lightweight and packable. I was not going to order directly from them but when Nordstrom began carrying this brand with 90 day returns and had them on sale, I took a chance and bought some pants and a skort. The sales associate was skeptical that there were 3 items in the package when I picked it up so we opened it. Sure enough, both pants and the skort were in there! So yes, super lightweight and packable!
Pants size M ran somewhat small so I exchanged them for a large to feel more comfortable, but the M skort was TTS and maybe even slightly loose, but that is OK. All were well made! My verdict: I’m keeping all. I will not travel in them because they are 100% synthetic but will pack them for trips!
Just saw that the US Olympic team unveiled their 2026 winter games uniforms. So. Ugly. Again!
Meanwhile, our neighbors to the north get the cool Lulu stuff.
My SIL gets a lot of stuff from rent the runway. She likes clothes but they downsized drastically when they retired and she doesn’t have much storage space so this way she gets to indulge her taste for fashion without taking up a lot of room. I think she has a monthly subscription and she always looks great!
Some stylish friends use the rental/subscription site called Nuuly. I have not used it personally, but they always have stylish dresses and outfits.
D and several of her friends subscribe to Nuuly. D gets some very cute clothes, but its not really my style.
A few friends at work rent monthly clothes from StichFix. They often have interesting, unique pieces but I’m more of a minimalist/basics. And (while not for everyone) I find it pretty easy to pick up a blazer at a thrift store that costs less than either renting one or dry cleaning. ![]()
Whoa, those burgundy boots upthread are really cool! Unique color. I could never wear the super pointy toes, though (even when really young!).
Very cool boots, but not something I could wear. I would find it difficult to pay $98/month to rent clothes. I’m happy enough with my wardrobe and don’t really hang out with people that care (or honestly notice) what I wear most of the time.
That makes sense for someone who is young, starting out their professional career, and doesn’t have much of a wardrobe but needs to look sharp at work. For us, retired or well established in their careers- not so much.
Both my girls use RTR and Nuuly. I have three weddings in 2026, so I’m thinking of trying RTR.
I don’t rent any clothing, though I applaud the concept.
I often do buy items (especially for exercise or travel) at ARC thrift shop…. redonate down the road if not crazy about them.
I also don’t rent but I’m a frequent flyer on RealReal. Kids shop my closet periodically. We all happen to wear the same size shoes so you bet I guard my precious pairs closely! That said, I also buy new clothes and shoes. To feed the recycled/pre-loved pipeline. ![]()
LOL - That is what I’m planning if my husband does not like the $20 light puffer jacket I ordered for him on 32 degrees. Trying not to do too much fast fashion / cheap stuff, but his warmer orange REI puffer jacket that is perfect for Broncos games is sometimes too much warmth (and color!) to wear. And he is too picky for me to select a nicer surprise option.
I ordered one of the travel sets from Frank and Eileen, there was a great sale on Black Friday
One of those travel sets that all the influencers are in love with.
Should have not listened. It is so strange!
The pants are cropped with a long sleeve sweatshirt. I’m 5’1”, the pants fit like they do on the model, who I expected was 5’8” or 9. The top is weirdly tight in the arms and huge in the trunk.
It’s just so off, I think I’ll try and sell on a buy sell trade board. Dumb me bought final sale.
These influencers must make a ton of profit on these overpriced sets. Which I got for 70% off but still.
I’m curious what they look like - do you have a link??
I really don’t know what I was thinking. Late night purchases
I bought navy, not white.
I gave a bad review and emailed them, admitting that I know it’s final sale but I thought the product was terrible.
