Duke ED 2024

@neonpinklime
Interesting, I will definitely look forward to seeing them. As much as I hope they are down like Penn, I really believe Penn’s dip was their somber suicide news in mid September.

Does anyone know when they will send out instructions on how to access admission results? Or will it just be under application status?

I feel like they’ll send out the instructions on how to access admissions like 3-4 days or a week before the results will be released? Looking at last year’s ED CC discussion, it looked like people were getting notified about how to access admission results on December 10th saying that the results would come out on December 13th. I’m guessing they’ll send out instructions at the end of this week or early next week, since many people predict that the results will be released next Thursday, December 12th. They may also post on Twitter/Instagram. Good luck!

They came back to me for additional information about owning a business. I had to basically get my taxes for 2019 estimated and go find an accountant who was willing to help answer some of the questions. I have 2 different people I know telling me different things. One person said they wouldn’t be looking at it if they were not interested in you, while another person said Duke processes everyone’s paperwork.

It is my understanding that if you fill out the FAFSA you should have also filled out the CSS. If they requested additional information and you did not provide by the 15th, it is a possibility that they could defer you to regular admission, because it’s a binding contract with ED and they try to work it out that you can afford the school so you can accept. This is just my take from one of the presentations I went to.

First time, long time here.
@2022soon, my kid is a legacy and last week Alumni Affairs sent a letter saying they expect ED numbers to be “about the same” this year as last year.

@CasualHamm
Great, thank you so much!! ?

Got my portal, still haven’t received anything about an interview (central Florida area)

@JudiMc72
we filled out all of the required information by the deadline with the rest of the application, but got an additional email requesting more information later (including another copy of our W2 and 1040)

I sent in everything but my Non-Custodial parents forms in. I have no relationship with him so no idea how I would get them (havent seen or spoken in 4 years). Submitted the NCP waiver havent heard back from the committee yet, unfortunately.

@JudiMc72
would duke really defer an applicant just because they didn’t submit all their financial aid stuff on time?

I highly doubt it Financial Aid office and Admissions have little contact till decisions come out.

@dogsandy
I understand what you are saying I had filled out both items, but they can not figure out your package if they do not have all the information. I thought I had filled out everything and they requested more detailed stuff like W2. I had to call them because I have a small business and did not have a W2, which they then were able to take off the request and say that all my information is now complete. I would definitely call the office to get the stuff you need or have them pull the FASFA application. On login it says " If you have any questions about your Financial Aid, please contact us at (919) 684-6225." They are really nice and will be very helpful when I called.

@SKOVIKES
I don’t know for a fact that they would defer to the regular application, but I went to 3 different presentations, 2 on-campus and 1 at an area hotel which was closer to my daughters’ father. They made it sound as if not all parts of the financial aid were completed they wouldn’t be able to provide you with a financial package which they don’t give you very long to respond to the ED so how can you commit if you don’t know your package. I felt like they would need to push it to regular application. They really stressed the importance to get all that done, to not hold up your child’s opportunity.

The FASFA is just the parent you live with. Did you fill out your CSS form? That is the one that wants that stuff. Does that family member give any child support? I had these questions and I had to contact the CSS department to fill out that. Id just call the Duke financial Aid office I posted. They were really nice and helpful, if the need you to do it on the FAFSA or the CSS both of those hotlines have EXTREMELY helpful people.

I went to past CC Duke ED threads. Here is a list of all the ED decision dates the past 7 years.

2018 - Class of 2023 - Thursday 12/13
2017 - Class of 2022 - Thursday, 12/14
2016 - Class of 2021 - Wednesday, 12/14
2015 - Class of 2020 - Thursday, 12/10
2014 - Class of 2019 - Thursday, 12/11
2013 - Class of 2018 - Thursday, 12/12
2012 - Class of 2017 - Thursday, 12/13

Based on this, we can probably rule out Friday the 13th because Duke hasn’t released decisions on a Friday for the last 7 years. It’s most likely to be Thursday December 12 for our ED decision night.

Also, I was curious about when we would receive an email announcing the decision date. Last year, emails announcing ED decision date were received on Monday December 10th @ approximately 9:12pm. That’s when posters came on to CC ED thread and announced that they received their emails. That was THREE days prior to the ED decision night. So we can probably expect to get the email announcing the release of decisions on Monday December 9, if decisions follow the pattern of prior years and are released Thursday December 12.
