Duke Kunshan University. Class of 2024

@GhostOfBanquo To answer your first question about scholarships, our highest amount awarded is full tuition, so there are no full-ride scholarships. Here is a link to a page detailing the cost of attendance: https://undergrad.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/tuition-international-students. You can also visit this site to learn more about scholarships: https://undergrad.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/scholarship-financial-aid.

Regarding your second question, DKU has always offered a semester abroad at Duke during junior year, and students also have the opportunity to go to Duke for a summer term as well. More information about study abroad and associated costs can be found on our website: https://undergrad.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/study-away.

Hi @DKUCaroline. I am concerned about how to pay my living expenses during my studies at DKU. Can you share any information about job opportunities or internships, work&travel programs that can help students finance their studies?

Hi @JeffAllen. You can refer to this link for information about cost of attendance and available scholarships: https://undergrad.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/tuition-international-students.

Beyond the many scholarships available, DKU also has a variety of student worker positions for undergraduate students. Students have the opportunity to work in communications and social media, the office of study abroad, international and Chinese enrollment, the library, and more. We also have a very active career services department that posts internship opportunities outside of campus, and many of those opportunities are paid. Students, however, can only work up to 40 hours per month, so this may not be enough to cover the cost of attendance. Please let me know if you have any further questions, and you can check out the following link for more information on career services: https://dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/campus-life/career-services.

Hey Guys - I was just wondering if DKU has interviews for students. There’s only about a month and a half until decisions and I’m too nervous haha. I hope we all get in.

yooo i was wondering the same thing !! anyone have any idea when interviews will be sent out :frowning:

It’s possible that the interview schedule is being impacted by the current coronavirus outbreak that may have originated Wuhan, China. Even if DKU is approximately 500 miles from Wuhan, they have temporarily suspended classes that were supposed to restart after the Lunar New Year.

According to their webpage, they hope to resume classes on February 17 …

I would presume their admissions team in the US will be proceeding with applicant interviews much sooner than this, and interaction with administration at DKU is still ongoing. DKU probably has its plate full in communicating with current students, maintaining some university operations, and dealing with the emerging public health crisis there.

All the above is speculation on my part as I accidentally landed in this thread and am not otherwise familiar with DKU.

@robertschumann @krod2902 Duke Kunshan does interview international and Chinese applicants during the application process, but not all students will be interviewed. Getting/not getting interviewed does not in any sense mean you will be admitted, deferred, or rejected—so I wouldn’t worry!

Our classes have been suspended, but the International Enrollment teams in both China, the US, and our entire set of Student Ambassadors continue to work with prospective students and admits. The University is currently working on a priority-driven operations set, but selecting the next class is of paramount importance to us all, and rest-assured your applications are being carefully considered.

To keep up-to-date, please make sure you check out our official Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and website pages!

@DKUCharlie I hope you all stay safe in Kunshan with the coronavirus and thanks for the update as well. I’m glad there were no confirmed cases in Kunshan! Hopefully, China can create a cure soon.

i’m so sad the admitted students weekend is cancelled this year :((

Hey, I got an interview today.
I was wondering if the interviews were given to selected students based on merit or it’s just random?

i think that they try to interview as many people as possible. congrats on getting an invite! i got one too

Good luck with your interviews!! I hope I receive an interview from them too!!

I had my interview yesterday, it went well. The interviewer was so nice. The decisions will come out probably the second week of march. it’s so sad that the admitted students week will be canceled this year!

Hey guys! Happy to see your interviews are going well if you have had one. A reminder that not all students will be interviewed. Getting/not getting interviewed does not in any sense mean you will be admitted, deferred, or rejected.

Admissions decisions are going to be released in a few weeks—at that point admitted students will be invited to join our online communities to talk with ED admits and current students. We are so excited to welcome you all to the Class of 2024—and continue building the legacy of Terry Sanford’s idea of ā€˜Duke’s outrageous ambitions’!

The decisions are out. Got in!!! Sooo happy! If only the admitted students event was not cancelled.

My decisions came out and I was placed on the waitlist. I really love this school, so I hope I’m given a chance for an interview to show it. I hope I’ll be taken off the waitlist and become a student here! :3 Gotta keep my hopes up!

My son got in too! We are from NY. Not sure if he’s going, but he’s very intrigued.

I got in! Although my tuition is paid for, I am honestly a bit concerned about paying for the rest. But I am incredibly honored.

My daughter got in! Not sure if we can afford it but so proud of her!!!
