Regarding your second question, DKU has always offered a semester abroad at Duke during junior year, and students also have the opportunity to go to Duke for a summer term as well. More information about study abroad and associated costs can be found on our website: https://undergrad.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/study-away.
Hi @DKUCaroline. I am concerned about how to pay my living expenses during my studies at DKU. Can you share any information about job opportunities or internships, work&travel programs that can help students finance their studies?
Beyond the many scholarships available, DKU also has a variety of student worker positions for undergraduate students. Students have the opportunity to work in communications and social media, the office of study abroad, international and Chinese enrollment, the library, and more. We also have a very active career services department that posts internship opportunities outside of campus, and many of those opportunities are paid. Students, however, can only work up to 40 hours per month, so this may not be enough to cover the cost of attendance. Please let me know if you have any further questions, and you can check out the following link for more information on career services: https://dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/campus-life/career-services.
Hey Guys - I was just wondering if DKU has interviews for students. Thereās only about a month and a half until decisions and Iām too nervous haha. I hope we all get in.
Itās possible that the interview schedule is being impacted by the current coronavirus outbreak that may have originated Wuhan, China. Even if DKU is approximately 500 miles from Wuhan, they have temporarily suspended classes that were supposed to restart after the Lunar New Year.
According to their webpage, they hope to resume classes on February 17 ā¦
I would presume their admissions team in the US will be proceeding with applicant interviews much sooner than this, and interaction with administration at DKU is still ongoing. DKU probably has its plate full in communicating with current students, maintaining some university operations, and dealing with the emerging public health crisis there.
All the above is speculation on my part as I accidentally landed in this thread and am not otherwise familiar with DKU.
@robertschumann@krod2902 Duke Kunshan does interview international and Chinese applicants during the application process, but not all students will be interviewed. Getting/not getting interviewed does not in any sense mean you will be admitted, deferred, or rejectedāso I wouldnāt worry!
Our classes have been suspended, but the International Enrollment teams in both China, the US, and our entire set of Student Ambassadors continue to work with prospective students and admits. The University is currently working on a priority-driven operations set, but selecting the next class is of paramount importance to us all, and rest-assured your applications are being carefully considered.
To keep up-to-date, please make sure you check out our official Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and website pages!
@DKUCharlie I hope you all stay safe in Kunshan with the coronavirus and thanks for the update as well. Iām glad there were no confirmed cases in Kunshan! Hopefully, China can create a cure soon.
I had my interview yesterday, it went well. The interviewer was so nice. The decisions will come out probably the second week of march. itās so sad that the admitted students week will be canceled this year!
Hey guys! Happy to see your interviews are going well if you have had one. A reminder that not all students will be interviewed. Getting/not getting interviewed does not in any sense mean you will be admitted, deferred, or rejected.
Admissions decisions are going to be released in a few weeksāat that point admitted students will be invited to join our online communities to talk with ED admits and current students. We are so excited to welcome you all to the Class of 2024āand continue building the legacy of Terry Sanfordās idea of āDukeās outrageous ambitionsā!
My decisions came out and I was placed on the waitlist. I really love this school, so I hope Iām given a chance for an interview to show it. I hope Iāll be taken off the waitlist and become a student here! :3 Gotta keep my hopes up!
