My daughter’s guidance counselor said Duke invited them to a webinar this upcoming week. I am not sure which day though. I am wondering if this is something they do every year and if that means decisions are coming the following week.
Is the webinar early in the week or later? Everyone is predicting 12/12 for decisions but if the webinar is after that then decisions will probably be released the following week.
Right. He was deferred last year.
Is the counselor from Duke?
It was her high school counselor. She hasn’t gotten back to me with the date of the webinar yet.
It’s Wednesday. My son’s counselor also got the email.
Do all high schools’ counselors get the invitation for that webinar? What’s that webinar about?
I’m sure it goes to all U.S. counselors of students who applied ED, at least I hope it does. It would be a shame if it’s only for those whose students didn’t get admitted. I suspect they discuss their application process so that the counselors will have an understanding of how decisions were made.
My son did not get anything from his counselor about this. Is it for the counselors to attend or the students? I don’t remember reading about this step in prior years posts?
Just counselors
I was thinking if it would go to the counselors of the accepted students.
Alarming is crazy
This is not true. They send it to all counselors. Source: A friend of mine who got rejected last year.
what do they discuss at these webinars? does this indicate that deciison will release later?
My point was that the margin for error here is essentially non-existent…
Last year they held it about a week before ED released. They tell counselors about the total amount of applicants, how many they plan to accept excluding athletes + questbridge, when they plan to release decisions, how the admissions process worked, etc. Some thing interesting is that last year someone asked if they planned to increase ED class size in light of the increased amount of applicants and they said NO.
How do you have so much of information?
Are such webinars conducted by all top ranking universities before ED release date?
It’s online you just have to dig hard enough. I’m also not a parent; I talk have friends that currently attend Duke who also tell me.
Do you know when is the Duke ED release date?
