Duke University Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admissions

No, I have no idea. I’m an applicant

I thought you might know some tentative date from your friends in Duke.

I am a Duke parent , an alum, and I interview and there is no date that has been released. You can look through old threads on Duke ED and most yrs someone has gone through and listed all previous release dates. i believe Thursday Friday are the most common but do not have time to go back and check. They usually announce the date 4-7 days ahead.

I am wondering if they will be on the later side (of normal) this year. Have you seen any data on number of apps? Our school saw a huge increase in ED to Duke. I don’t know for sure but I think some, at least, were driven by testing policy. Yale published that REA apps are down 14%

ED apps were definitely up this year, almost 6750. I agree most likely because of testing policy. I heard 9.5% acceptance rate outside of Questbridge and recruited athletes.

Did anyone’s school counselor participate in the webinar and share additional insights on this year’s ED pool?

They said about 725 will be admitted (includes athletes but not QB) and about 1000 will be deferred

Less than 10 hours away. Good luck everyone.

That’s a drop from the 800-850 seen in the last few years, even accounting for the increase in QB.

Did you hear anything about number of applicants? I think there will be a significant drop in acceptance rate (13% last year). My guess is a number of Ivy TO apps shifted to Duke.

Believe the total acceptances not including QB and athletes is approx 625( add 100 QB and 100 ED athletes. Similar #s just higher applicants. Will likely see 10-11% accept rate( 8-9 % if QB/ athletes accounted for. 800 + total students.

Yikes, that’s low. Is the number of deferred similar to previous years?

Your right! I misread and thought the 800+ number did not include QB but it does, so in line with previous year.

I think so

Typically, the last few years, they have admitted 800-850 total and deferred almost the same number. About 8-11% of the deferred, in past years, have gotten accepted in RD (or about 70-90). No idea if it will be similar.

Has anyone heard already?

Yes, I got deferred. This cycle was especially competitive, so I’m not too bummed.

Rejected here. Not overly surprised but going to continually second guess if TO was the right decision with a 1450 SAT.

Good luck to everyone else!
