"Election and Politics" forum is closed!

thanks, busdriver. I know there were posters with great wit and intellect on both sides of the table in that forum-- c’mon-- lest see some poetry!!

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum…

Many got in their licks
Others thought they were slick…

There once was a thread in the forum
That has varying levels of decorum…
For some it was ‘Yay’
For others it was ‘Nay’
But ne’er did this thread ever bore’em

Sorry, Pima.

Many got in their licks
Others thought they were slick…

…with posts intended to gorem

Want to end the last line with quorum… but am drawing a blank. Help.

“but alas never could reach a quorum”!

^^^ we need the middle lines too

and/or a last line with something
Inviting posters to SA where we pour’em

But I’ll be damned if they ever made quorum?

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum
Talk of elections
Caused CC defections
So now we ain’t got no place for 'em

LOL aibarr!!! Good one!

" It was the political section that was an exception. It was an experiment and someone (not me) determined that it didn’t work."

But it was amazing how people ended up taking care of things themselves, except for a few small issues. Most people on there were adults, or very mature young people. And when things got too nasty, either the thread would die, people would call them out on it, or some of the moderates would manage to get off the topic by boring the rest with talk of chocolate, wine and coffee cakes. It obviously worked for the vast number of people participating in it, I’d say, or they wouldn’t have kept coming back. It was a forum that took care of itself, rarely needing a babysitter.

I hope the owners of this wonderful site re-think closing the p & e forum. Most of us who posted there are legitimate CC participants, and those who are not were quickly chastised for it.

I will continue to read and participate in CC but maybe not as frequently. I visited that forum daily, in order to brush up on current events. I may not have as much motivation to check in so often now.

I don’t think the forum conflicted with CC’s overall mission of higher education and advice - many of the posters on that forum were extremely knowledgable and had invaluable viewpoints, including students who participated, like romanigypsyeyes. I can imagine that some students may have even gathered worthwhile information for their term papers from that forum!

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum
They talked of guns,
and politicians buns
but now they’ll just have to stor’em

I like most of those. Except for aibarrs, sorry…I think talk of elections caused cc selections, not defections. Though it does rhyme nicely.

For #73, maybe a better last line would be" now they have started a new forum".

You people are really good at this.

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum
Where it was oft seen with ease
That though no one agrees
They can banter with wit, barbs and scorem

Oh great, now I am totally distracted from work and doing wordplay in my head… Its my own fault.

**** busdriver- re # 74-- can the limerick lines use/end in the same word twice??

 I didn’t know there was one! I am not very political I guess!

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum
But alas, it is gone,
As if flushed down the john
So, where will we discuss ad velorum?

Tombstone epitath:

“Killed when we started puns about circumcisions”

There once was a thread in the forum
That had varying levels of decorum
But alas, it is gone,
As if flushed down the john
After discussing removing skins forem
