Eli Whitney Students Program 2009

ilivefree! did you hear anything back yet?

_ken, did you hear back?

No news on any front for me yet.

nothing for me…

Cory. That was the coolest thing ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I don’t think that I could live in the Boston Area. lol…

It is an expensive place to live. That’s for sure.

What do you think about, Brown? Are you going to go?

Waitlisted for Brown RUE

Here’s hoping I will hear back from Yale soon… but for an interview, not in the form of a rejection letter!

<----sent statement of intent to UC Davis. (UCLA was not affordable)

Congrats!

If you don’t mind me asking, what made it not affordable? Don’t you get in-state tuition?

erg man erg. seriously? nothing yet. I hate this soooo mucho!

ken, if i go to a california school, my wife is going to stay in the bay area for a few reasons… she just started a business, and we have an EXCELLENT rental that we don’t want to lose. our rent is ridiculously cheap compared to the area, and we can have our whole family (100lb. dog, cat, and two bunnies). thus, i would commute to UCLA if i went there; thus, i would need to pay half my bills at home, and rent/food in UCLA. i don’t see how i can afford to do this on the student budget, even if they let me borrow more and i work full-time. :(

i’d really love to go to UCLA, but i am having a hard time seeing how it could be possible.

and, regarding eli whitney, i haven’t heard anything new. i did appeal my cal decision… but that’s a bit of a statistical long shot. they reverse 3% of their decisions.

if i get into an ivy on the east coast, things would be diff. with eli whitney, i could enroll a little less than full-time and work enough to pay rent in new haven; also, rent in new haven would be way less expensive.

geez… college decisions are so challenging as an adult, eh!

i feel u, sans the 100lb dog, cat and bunnies. i didnt apply to so many schools because i needed to stay near a city so my husband could find work!

Arg!!! _____

I see that I am coming in a little late to this discussion…

Current School: Union County College
GPA: 3.95
ACT or SAT score: Over 12 years old now…
Life Experience or Work Experience: IT Industry after the Navy

Other Applications: I was accepted to Columbia GS - Their endowment is not nearly as large as CC so it is going to cost me a few bucks!!

Why EWSP: My story… Well I am 29 and spent some time in the Navy, was married at 24 - a year and 4mos later she decided to walk out for another man and a nice coke habbit. I ended up losing everything after she cleaned out the accts. - my house, car, and self-esteem. So since I lost everything and the income was very low, I was able to receive financial aid. I took 18 credits my first semester and kept going - I am now finishing up my AA in only 1yr’s time. Now I am following through with my dream of getting my law degree.

Still haven’t heard anything back yet… Spoke to Maryanne a few times because they didn’t receive certain items, but that’s about it. She did say that I should know by mid-May if I am going to have an interview.

Spoke to Maryanne today - she said all of the letters will be out by the end of the month with either a rejection or an interview request.

welcome, dszaf!

How interesting that she said they would be sending letters for both interview requests and to inform applicants of rejections. That statement would lend me to disbelieve past claims of phone calls and interviews. Was this indeed how you understood your conversation with the office dszaf?

Can we please keep the thread happy? Please? Can we just go like two pages with out some strange disbelief of something…? It’s a thread on the internet. We are not trying to figure out who “really” shot JFK. Like Ilivefree says, it’s just a fun waiting game.

Didn’t somebody already lose touch with reality and send a myspace message about identity theft for use on this thread… I mean, what…

Don’t worry, be happy!

Where were you orangechair121212 on June 11th, 1971?

peace, love and rock’n’roll. :)
