I wouldn’t disbelieve what the others have claimed - I guess some have received theirs already and that they will be finished by the end of the month sending them out. I think part of the reason I haven’t received anything yet is that she called me up about two weeks ago with some confusion about credits I have from the military. So they are just now probably looking over everything.

They called me for the interview. I think that is the procedure because if it was by mail - setting it up would take up too much time. Just my two cents.

The interview requests definitely come in by phone. They’d definitely be soon, too, as I think they’re trying to wrap up everything within May/Early June and are conscious of the need to book flights/hotels or at least schedule phone-interview times. Now we have four cents!

I’ve been following this thread for some time now. It’s been really helpful and informative. Since stumbling upon this forum, I’ve been kicking myself in the %& for not applying to RUE. I think I would’ve had a chance.

I’d like to share, seeing as how I’ve already read all your comments. Thxs. So, I was notified by Marianne today while I was at work. She left a message, and I couldn’t bring myself to check it for most of the day -scared beyond belief. So, I got an interview. Whew! I was rejected via phone from another university earlier in the day. So you can understand my hesitation.

In her message, she alluded to the fact that she had a number of calls to make today, and that in order to secure the following XYZ dates, i needed to call back soon. I dunno how far to read into that statement.

Hopefully, I was lucky in my choice. I realized after scheduling my interview that each date had a different interviewer. Your interview won’t necessarily be with the director. This is of slight concern b/c I imagine he has the most clout. Someone posted earlier that they were rejected after having a smashing interview. When will the anxiety end? I’m ready to relax & go on a vacation after this season of apps!

ilivefree are we following each other from forum to forum =P jokies jokies. mind u i am trudging thru this middle east stuff. You know i LOVE poli sci right? But I am thinking … these books in poli sci… what makes them different from a history book since all it is is a detailed story about modern events? What is it telling me that a really good history textbook doesnt tell me? Like what If i opened a modern history book and it went over the formation of the EU, is that any different than this world politics book telling me about the formation of the EU? The founding members, the dates certain countries joined. Their opposition to whatever subject they were opposed to. Unanimous votes yada yada. I dunna.

nay matey, your poli. sci. book is history minus the dust. i agree with your assessment.

and yes, we are following each other a bit. but you got into cal, didn’t you? stinker. i’m waiting on my appeal decision. sent 'em my SAT scores and grades to date (A’s in major and should have A’s in all others). we’ll see. you must tell me where you end up going.

i havent been able to sleep these past 5 days or so because throught the middle of the night there is a set of bird that are tweeting to each other all night. its REALLY loud. just chirping away like its bright and sunny. i think they dont sleep. just regular robin type birds but the californian style.

First Post from an international applicant.

Hey you all; I have been following the forum and reading stuffs for like two weeks now. I thought that I should also share my story:

I am an Iranian Kurdish and I speak English, Kurdish, and Persian fluently. I also speak basic Russian and basic Spanish. I have been living and working in Ukraine for like 5 months. Prior to that, I worked as both an English teacher and supervisor to several places such as entertainment centers and languages schools. My recommendation letters come from two U.S. State Department officials, and the academic dean at a U.S. university I was studying at. I have a GPA of 3.94 for college work and my high school GPA is 3.2. I don’t have the SAT or ACT but I do have the GRE (I know the GRE doesn’t help so I didn’t even mention having that). I haven’t heard anything back from Yale but I did call Marianne last week and she said that the letters will be mailed through by mid to late May. Do you think I have a shot at getting accepted?

well, I’m premed. 3.93 gpa, 3.8 in major (biochem). I’ve had too many experiences to note. this is always my problem, i never know where to begin my story. born in a refugee camp. classical violinist/violist, cancer research, volunteer in neurosurgery/emergency medicine. I’ve had a strange and jam packed life. Raised my two sisters, and the pillar of my family. Lived in three countries before the age of 6. Almost died a few times, a few horror stories to tell from the atrocities of war. Grew up in the ghetto of urban America, and fought violence at every turn. My essay was really hard to write. 600 word was not enough. i did my best. i didn’t want to focus too much on my obstacles, but rather my successes. I was worried that it would come off like the plot to a dramatic movie. I opened with my experiences in Cambodia with landmine victims, the reason i want to be a physician. I was honest and genuine. Hopefully, they’ll appreciate my candor. I used to be a working musician, played all over. Woke up one day, and wanted to do more. So I began my current endeavors. A complete 180 to now. It was a gamble.

I’m just proud to get this far. Who would’ve thunk? Going to Yale would be amazing.

Just a distance degree program with an “unaccredited” U.S. university. I took online classes in an effort to better myself in my career back then.
