metalforever, I know exactly what you’re talking about with PA. I’m from eastern PA and drove across the turnpike too many times to count to get to CMU, and people really don’t believe how the state is until they’ve been through there.

I think you’re definitely one of the kinds of people that CMU is going after since they changed their numbers-centric approach to admissions (one of my professors, Howie Choset, was on the board pushing for that). My year was the first where they started caring about the entire package of the student instead of just their GPA, class rank, and SAT scores. I’ll definitely agree that the people motivated to learn will to spectacular at CMU, so their newer method of admissions was a good decision.

Congrats at getting into CMU and hope you have a great time there.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I wasnt really expecting to get accepted. In my mind, it was too good to be true. Was so happy i cried.

I also live in Eastern Pennsylvania. (Ever Heard of Knoebels Amusement Park? I worked there… and I promise you for how expensive those games are, they arent making a dime.) Knoebels is near Bloomsburg, or about 30 miles from Bucknell University ?

Ahh, yeah, I know Bucknell, though not Knoebels. I’m from way out in Bucks County, about 10 minutes away from the Delaware River. Are you still in part of Pennsylvania that says “wutur” instead of water?

How did you like CMU? I need some honest opinions here. Also, do they start you out at square 1 as an engineer with physics and math, or do you jump right into the hard stuff… my school is not great in these departments, so I am trying to get a feel for how much independent work before school will be efficient.

awesome. carnagie is a great school. Read up on it.

I really loved it at CMU; I’m actually an alumni interviewer out here in Los Angeles now. I’ll hit you up with a PM so we can talk about any specifics you’re interested in.

Also, you got one heck of a financial aid package from them. It’s sure to make a few friends jealous if you tell them. :)
