FALL 2014 Guaranteed/ Conditional Transfers

Hey guys,
I am applying to Cornell for transfer from a community college in Mass. I have a draft of my essay done besides that my application is good to go for the March 31st deadline. Is there anywhere i can get an opinion on my essay? Please let me know as the days are flying by. Thanks.

We may not be the best candidates to read your essay as we received transfer offers in May of last year and were not required to write the transfer essay. That being said, I’m sure many of us would like to help you out! Let me know if I can do anything to assist you. Best of luck!

When is everyone submitting their midterm grade report? It looks like I’ll just end up turning in my official quarter grades, which come out late March. Cornell would probably receive them at the tail end of March or beginning of April. Is this too late?

@luc425,

I’m on a semester system, and my Spring Break begins March 7th. I’m going to send in my report before I leave for break. Instead of sending yours in the mail, you should fax it so they get it ASAP. I think I’m going to fax mine as well since it is the fastest method.

Also, does anyone know if there is an official Fall 2014 transfer thread?

@Luc425 There is! As of now it is in the second page of the Cornell page <a href=“Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums”>Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums;

@jtvheroxql that is the spring 2014 not fall 2014 transfer thread

Oops sorry! I meant this Official fall 2014 transfer thread - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums;

My college sent my official transcript on January 27th, a little over 3 weeks ago, and my portal still says that it has not been received. It’s weird because I sent my “application” portion and registrar’s report on January 22nd, and that seemed to get there and processed within 2 weeks of me sending those documents in. My friend whom also has a TO to ILR sent his application and transcript the first week of January. His application portion, and registrar’s report section has been “checked” off, yet Cornell has still not processed his transcript. He resent his transcript January 24th, and that also has not been received/processed. Anyone else seeing a large gap of time between when they sent their official college transcript to Cornell, and when their applicant portal gets updated?

@Shap95

There was a 3 week gap between the time I sent in all my application materials to the time my portal was updated. I sent everything in the second week of January, and my portal was fully updated the first week of February. However, I have not experienced any problems with application materials being “missing.” I’m not sure why that could be the case with your friends stuff. I would think that Cornell is running a bit behind because the normal transfer applicants are beginning to send in their applications. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, I would recommend just keeping an eye on the portal, and focusing on sending in the midterm report.

@luc425,

Yeah that makes sense, they’re probably overwhelmed with the amount of transfer documents they are receiving. I’m hoping they receive my transcript by the first week of March because I’m sending my midterm report then and I just want to be done worrying! Thanks for your reply.

When are decisions released?

@luc425

From CC threads of TOs that I have read, if you have all your stuff processed by Cornell by early March, the earliest you will start hearing back is the end of March. It is on a rolling basis and depends on the school you have the TO for, but we hear back before regular transfers if we have all of our stuff in and have met all of our requirements. If you get your mid term report in by mid March, I would anticipate a decision by mid April or so.

However if anyone has not met the required GPA and grade requirements, my understanding from past threads is the “TO” is taken away, the application is put into the general transfer pool among all of the transfers, and your decision will come at a later time.

Thanks. Just wondering, if a TO application gets moved to the normal transfer pile because a requirement wasn’t met, is the likelihood of being accepted still good, or does it become very low?

@luc425

On a CC thread an applicant received a B- when her school’s requirement was not to get a grade below a B (I think ILR). She still had exceeded the required GPA, but the B- was the violation. Her application was put into the regular transfer pool, and she was ultimately accepted. She found out in early May, which was a bit later than those with TOs who had met the requirements.

Thanks again!

No problem, I’m glad I was able to help you!

Submitted the mid-term report today by fax, crossing my fingers that everything goes according to plan and I hear back soon. Good luck everyone!

Best of luck, @jeppy18 !

So basically if u take the required classes, make a B in each, and have a GPA of 3.0 you get in…guaranteed ??
