Hello everyone! Good luck to everyone!

@ard1995 @concerto95
I got GT as a biological sciences this year. The requirement shows that I need a full academic year of introductory biology with labs. Does it mean that I have to take biology with lab for both semesters? Will only one semester of biology with lab and one semester of pure lecture work? What can I do if the school I plan to go to do not have courses that can meet the requirement? Thanks.

@yooyoo,

A full academic year of bio refers to two semesters of biology with lab. According to the requirements, you must take it both semesters. Depending on the school biology lectures and labs or either together or separate, but I think they are together at most schools. That means one lecture with lab one semester, and the next lecture and lab for the second semester. If your school dosnt offer these classes, try to take something this summer, or take them at a separate school in conjunction with your other courses in fall and spring. Its really important that you have these courses since they are the most relevant to the major.

Does anyone have any actual idea of when we may hear? Based off of research or past results. I’m super anxious because I have everything in and I thought I’d hear last week. Are we supposed to hear before the regular transfer applicants? It says in the emails I’ve received from CALS that I should hear back from March-May… Lots of luck to everyone!

@jeppy18 Yeah I am really surprised that we have not formally heard back yet. Last year’s GTs started hearing back last week. Historically we are supposed to hear back before the regular transfer applicants. I wonder what is going on this year!

@shap95, I did some research and we should get an email at 10 AM eastern time. I almost want to email them but I don’t want to be pushy. Maybe we’ll hear tomorrow cause it’ll be April 1. Just hope if I do hear tomorrow it won’t be a joke.

@Jeppy18 Wow…imagine them being that cruel haha…
How did you find out–and does this apply to all the schools?
I wish they will hurry up and inform us of our decisions already…
I have to make living plans and create my schedule for next
year if all does not go according to plan or if it does, I have to start
telling my college advisor and friends…
Have you guys already told your friends about the possibility of transfer?

@jeppy18 I am really hoping we start hearing back soon. This wait is becoming unbearable!

@jtvheroxql I told my friends pretty early on that I had the GT and they were really accepting and supportive. Housing selection starts soon at my current college and I am not planning on paying the deposit, so if I don’t get an official word from Cornell soon I am going to be very worried.

Yeah, I have to start registering for classes and set up financial aid for my current college, not knowing if I will actually attend in the fall.

@Jtvheroxql, I pretty much told everyone I know from the start when I received it last year. When people ask, I just say I haven’t decided yet.

I was re-reading the email with the TO information, and it says that (for at least ILR) decisions begin late March/early April. I am hoping this means that we will be getting the official word soon!

I called the CALS admissions office ealrier and they said transfer option students find out mid April at the earliest. I thought we would find out before regular transfers. Maybe they didn’t understand I was a TO applicant.

This is so frustrating…
I wish they would at least give us an official date instead of
dragging it out further–

@Wildchild627 hello ,I also apply to transfer math major, could you tell me when did you get the admission? and what’s your gpa or anther data about your transfer? Thanks a lot

Hey everyone! '18 GT here-- this thread has been an incredible resource and I just wanted to wish you all luck. Hope to see you guys in Ithaca next fall :slight_smile:

Hey everyone, I also received TO for fall '14 for biological engineering in CALS. Hope to see everyone in the fall :)

I added myself. good luck to everyone!

My S got TO now for entry fall 2015 to ILR.

They do say decision is late march/early april, so does not seem like a reason to panic, but I can understand those concerned about replaying indecision from 12 months ago. Housing deposits at current school…just in case.

I ask specifically about ILR since my belief is that each college handles the transfer process independently,though I assume housing at Cornell is not available to sign up until afterwards. ILR told us MOST go to West Campus, wondering how this works out for all of you ?

Also, wondering about how mid-term reports. Cornell ILR asked for mid-term reports.
Do most other colleges publish a mid-term grade report that can easily be requested and sent to Cornell, or must a student ask each prof to fill in some Cornell form ? My S is considering Binghamton for the fresh year.

@blevine I am an ILR GT for Fall 2014. I have been able to log into the housing portal, and have only requested West Campus for housing. This is where most sophomores and transfers live. My friend who also has a GT to ILR is at Bing. Most colleges do not have a midterm report. You have to go to the professors and ask them to fill out a form that Cornell provides for you.

@blevine I know for CALS there is midterm report form. All your professors have to put a letter grade and his or her signature.

I think we are going to hear back before normal transfers because the deadline for our application was a month earlier
