Hi @sanpu
My recommendation for anyone who is trying to make sure their application is complete is to always call their Admissions Processor: https://oafa.pitt.edu/processors/
They will be able to look at your application and make sure there are no missing items. I hope this helps!

Thank you @hailtopitt1787. I understand they are short answer…just think that it sends a mixed message if the website says one thing - and then the actual Common App says another word count.
Hi. My daughter applied through the Common App on Aug 1st and the portal says her application is complete. When can we expect a decision? Thank you.
Hello! I am a current college freshman and applied as a transfer for Fall 2020 yesterday. I got accepted for this year but did not go. Does it take longer for transfer decisions to arrive? When can I expect a decision? Thanks
@mamapickles our Admissions Committee will begin reviewing at the start of Septemeber. You can expect to hear from us 4-6 weeks after that.
Good luck!

@brokenjavascript transfer decisions shouldn’t take very long as long as you submitted all your required materials. I would still say it might be 4-6 weeks but it could also be sooner than that.
Good luck!

Thank you very much. Will do that.
The Steelers are a Pittsburgh football team, not a University of Pittsburgh team. My D goes to Pitt because of the excellent program.
Your son should visit Pitt and talk to the engineering department.
Pittsburgh is a great city, there is lots to do, he never has to watch a Steelers game.
@hailtopitt1787 - My daughter just discovered Pitt and likes what she sees for nursing! However, we won’t be able to visit. Will that hurt her a lot in the application process? She has very strong stats and will look into attending a local college fair/presentation near Boston. Thank you!
Hi @2020Nurse, I wouldn’t say it would hurt her but we definitely want her to connect with us in some way. I’m sharing her Enrollment Services Manager’s contact info so that she can send him any questions that she might have. His name is Jonathan Hurt and can be reached at joh99@pitt.edu. Also, if you let him know which high school she attends, he’ll be able to tell you what fairs or events she might be able to attend.
I hope this is helpful!

To be considered for merit do you need to answer all three short answers or only one or two? Thanks.
@Das1234 good question! All three are required to be considered.
-Good luck!
One more question…I hope. My son submitted his application a few days ago and I’m not sure he did all three short essays. I know he did the 2nd essay for the business school. Can he edit his application and submit the other short answers if necessary? Thanks.
My son also submitted his app with only two of the three SAQs. This is the first we have heard that all three must be completed to be considered for merit. ?
@Das1234 @chmcnm @ShrimpBurrito
Alright so I have spoken to one of my colleagues in the Scholarship Committee and she said technically students can answer 1, 2 or all 3, but we prefer all 3 to be answered to gain a better understanding of the student outside of their academics. If students want to submit the last one they still can through the website but ultimately, the more info we have about them the better!
I hope this helps all of you, and I apologize if I confused you. I usually encourage students to answer all three but it technically isn’t a requirement. Here is the link to our page if anyone wants to go back and submit another answer: https://oafa.pitt.edu/apply/admissions-process/short-answer-questions/

@hailtopitt1787
Thank you. I’ll relay the message to my son. I always tell my kids to replace “recommended” with “must” but it doesn’t always take. LOL.
@hailtopitt1787
My S is working on the honors essays, and we can’t find a guideline for word count. Is it the same as the admissions essays? Around 200-300 words? Or is intentionally left ambiguous?
Hi @ShrimpBurrito they are essays which are different from short answers. There is no word count but he should write a well-structured essay.

@hailtopitt1787 Am I correct that the regular app can be submitted, and then the honors app can be submitted later? Or do they need to be submitted at the same time?
Thanks!
@Genevieve18 you are correct!
