If my portal says I don’t have any pending applications what does this mean?
Thank you, @hailtopitt1787 !
@hailtopitt1787 Will the same people/committee be reviewing both the regular application’s short answer questions and the honors applications essay questions? My daughter is wondering because with the short answer question that asks “what else should we know about you”, she is unsure if she should mention things that are also mentioned in her honors essays because different people will be reading them? Or should she assume the same people will read both so don’t mention anything in this short answer that she wrote about in her honors essays? Thank you!
@hailtopitt1787 D noticed that other schools (specifically PSU) use the Self-Reported Academic Record. If she completes an SRAR for one (like Pitt), is there a way to use the same SRAR for other schools that require it (like PSU)? It is seems like an unnecessary waste of time to re-enter the same information for each school separately, especially since the exact same SRAR program is being used by multiple colleges. It took quite some time to enter all of the information from her transcript and review it for accuracy, so anything to help streamline the process would be appreciated. Thanks.
@CAtransplant she should definitely answer them as if two different groups are reading them. Pitt Honors will review those essays themselves and our committee will review the short answers. Good luck!
@yocco1 I talked to one of our Assistant Directors and he said that if the school uses the same application system that we do, it should prepopulate your information. If they use a different applicant system, then it won’t auto-populate. I believe PSU uses the same system we do though.
Thanks @hailtopitt1787 - that’s helpful to know.
So I applied on 8/16 to Dietrich on the Pitt app and I still haven’t heard anything. The buttons haven’t changed and I’ve gotten no mail. I’m starting to get really worried because Pitt is like my number 1, did I get denied? My stats are
1550 SAT
35 ACT
3.86 UW
4.1 W
Hi ya! H2P! Proud Pitt alumni mom of a Pitt sophomore and high school senior with Pitt on his radar! Is it true that the “buttons” change on the mobile app when you are accepted? My Pitt sophomore was notified by the really fun email. My hs senior noticed that his “buttons” changed on the mobile portal site on 9/16. Are the acceptance notifications being mailed this year? Thank you and good luck to everyone! The University of Pittsburgh is an amazing school!!
Wow! Son received his acceptance package today…much faster than expected. He got into Dietrich arts and Sciences with an intended major of microbiology. He’s excited but we may become a house “divided” as we have another at Penn State. This should be fun!!!
With his interest in microbiology, have him check out the SEAPHAGES program, it was started at Pitt.
After the emails that have been going out on Wednesdays in previous years, they should get an acceptance letter.
If you haven’t heard anything and applied a while ago, try calling Admissions and make sure they have received your transcript and test scores.
hailtopitt1787,
S completed the common application. He listed all his ECs in the provided space. Will the Pitt admission officer see them, or does he need to list them again as the answer to one of the short answer questions?
Hi, @4011959 sorry for the delayed response. Our Admissions Committee will not see the ECs from the Common App. He should definitely include these in one of the short answer questions.
Hi, hailtopitt1787
Thank you for your response.
Can he access the application and add his ECs to one of his essays?
He actually was notified today of his acceptance to Pitt. Is there any value in adding the ECs to his application? He has some interesting ECs, would they influence the Honors decision?
Thanks again
@4011959 if he’s already accepted I don’t think that’s necessary. However, if he hasn’t submitted his honors essays that would be a good place to include ECs. If he already submitted the honors essays, he will have to reach out to Pitt Honors to see if they would allow for him to send updated essays.
Do you think that information would impact his chances for a merit scholarship?
Thank you again
@4011959 I don’t know what his academics look like so I can’t really answer that. If he wants to relay that information, he should call his Territory Manager to get their advice: https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php
Hi. Once the Common Application is filed - how does a student access the SRAR for Pitt? I know they received an email to set up the portal - but where is the SRAR? Does anyone know or can @hailtopitt1787 you answer this? Thank you very much.
@hcmom65 the student should have received an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the SRAR. Here is the link to the SRAR anyway: https://srar.selfreportedtranscript.com/Login.aspx?pt_ceeb=130D7ED4DBC44AC1
