Fall 2020 Transfer

Idk why but I have a feeling that decisions might come out early (I’m probably wrong tho cuz maybe all these little signs are normal). I think decisions came out early last year, does anyone know why?

I think they announce they’ve passed them onto the tech department to send them out and then whenever tech finishes sending them out is when we get them.

Last year they came out the last Friday of April on or before May 1. For us that is May 1.

In 2019, the blog was posted in the morning and decisions came out at 11:00 am;
In 2018, the blog was posted at 4:40pm, and decisions came out at 5:00 om.

@noah24nba which thread were you intending to post in?

The Wise thread…

edit: Oh gee golly I’m an idiot. I’ve been participating in the wrong thread the whole time. Man I’m dumb. Despite getting into Wise, I think I’m just gonna stay at JMU and cancel my plans to transfer given how my blunderhead isn’t smart enough to post in the correct thread for several months, much less survive at UVA…if anyone here is doing Wise then hope you get my spot, otherwise, bye I guess,Ciao

@noah24nba you’re not dumb for that!! xD that could happen to anyone.

If I get accepted, I wonder if I will be the first person to ever say I got rejected from GMU but accepted to UVA…hummmm

Does anyone know the OOS SEAS rate? Because a lot of people I have talked to in engineering said “they are more open to E-School transfers” but they don’t post any data for us out of staters. I also have all but one of the required courses completed (chem lab). I took up an information science minor to give me some systems-oriented classes, so I’m hoping they can see I am at least trying to plan my schedule around their systems engineering major.

Sorry for the wall of text, I’m BIG terrified lol.

@transferringlion this page has lot of data: https://ira.virginia.edu/university-stats-facts/undergraduate-admissions

Ya that’s the link, I think the info you’d want is: choose detailed admissions table, then column 1 pick residency column 2 whatever else interests you. And for school select engineering. The detailed admission table is a little link in the middle between “admission summary” and “academic profile first year”.

I actually don’t see oos rates for engineering. If I had to make an educated guess bc it says in state transfer engineering had 214 transfer apps completed and offered 87 with a 41% offer rate, I’d guess oos is 20-21% as they tend to keep a 2:1 in state vs out of state ratio. But that is speculative so I’m not entirely sure.

BRO! SHOULD’VE APPLIED FOR PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING STUDIES DX

I looked at Engineering transfers --they don’t break out in state vs OOS. Looks like 41% of Engineering applicants were accepted.

In 2019 the transfer admit rate for OOS engineering was 18.9%. Just an FYI. And good luck everyone!

@needingachange where did you get those numbers from? they arent on the data set.

When I go to the detailed admission table pick transfer, engineering, column 1: residency, column 2: school, entry term: fall 2019 it shows,

In-state: 214 completed applications 87 offers made 41% offer rate
Total: 378 completed applications 116 offers made 31% offer rate

My guess is if you take the total and subtract the in-state stats you get 164 oos completed applications with 29 offers made for a 17.7% offer rate. But you can mess with the filters and find lots of different types of data so not sure.

Just did the math extracting from the tableau data set (going back to an earlier thread) and controlling for residency and excluding gender. You can see the number of those who transferred and got in who were in state so the remainder from the total is those who got in OOS. Just shy of 1 in every 5 applicants. Hopefully that makes some sense.

William & Mary came out with their decisions and they said early May. I’m hoping this means UVA will also come early.

@Rehbell234 it was pretty random - I called and they said May 1st. In addition, there was no blog post; it just came out randomly. It was the same thing for likely letters

I got in ? now I wait for UVA
