Fall 2020 Transfer

With everything going on and the related delays, could be more like may 1st than April 24th

Yeah I was thinking that as well

I applied for aid and I don’t see inquiry access denied, does this mean I got denied?

No, it’s just speculation based on past observation. Plus its only April 2nd, still an entire month of apps for them to review. I wouldn’t worry about it either way because it’s just as possible it is meaningless and has something to do with something entirely unrelated.

Do you guys who have the “inquiry access denied” for financial aid have it for 2021 and 2020 or just 2020. I have it for just 2020 and I am wondering what this means, perhaps it’s a vestige from my hs application last year.

Have you submitted all of your financial aid documents already?

Hey guys, I applied to UVA as an incoming Junior for the fall 2020 sem. I applied to the CAS, psychology major here. I wanted to know if you guys think I can get in with these stats.

  • College: Dominican University (small private 4 year institution in Chicago)
  • College GPA: 3.93/4.0
  • HS GPA: 3.1/4.0
  • SAT: 1140
  • HS class rank: didn’t do class rank
    EXTRACURRICULARS IN COLLEGE
  • Dual Sport athlete for highly recognized d3 soccer program, also on the tennis team
  • work experience: camp counselor for 2 years, busser at walker brothers pancake house, elementary math and english tutor, FMSC volunteer, Best buddies volunteer, psychology club
    EXTRACURRICULARS IN HS
  • Dual sport athlete (soccer and tennis), co-founder of table tennis club, FMSC volunteer, camp counselor

Achievements in college: Dean’s list every semester so far (x3), midterm report is a 4.0, NACC soccer conference champions and conference tournament champions, NCAA soccer tourney participant, tennis team MVP of the year (local),

I don’t think they will look at my HS stats as much now that I have 2 years of college under my belt. I currently go to a private 4 year university out-of-state (Dominican University). I am also a hispanic male if that changes anything, not sure how they are in diversity, heard its mostly white though.

I realized that my stats in high school were not great. I definitely have shown tons of improvement academically and I have become a lot more mature. I think colleges (like UVA) will like to see such a great improvement. I sort of wish I wrote about that in my essay, but it is too late now. Still think my essay was very solid, I would say I am a decent writer.

Posted this in the McIntire transfer thread but wanted to post it here as well:

White male, in-state (NOVA area)
Current school: Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business (highly-regarded especially in the Midwest, tied for #10th right under McIntire for undergrad B-schools according to US News)
GPA: 3.757 (took some higher-level, optional finance classes that brought down my GPA a bit)
All A’s in my prerequisite courses besides a B in Calculus and an A- in one of my humanities

Extracurriculars:
Leadership positions in my residence hall’s student government last year and Kelley’s student government this year
Tutor for a class revolving around Microsoft Excel and Access
Non-leadership roles in a club focused on the financial services industry (last year) and one focused on the accounting industry (currently)
Server at a restaurant last Summer (not sure how relevant)

Essays:
6/10; not the best writer and not the most interesting topics
I wrote one about how I wish to work in the DC area and how I wanted to move closer to home to support my grandmother who’s currently going through cancer treatment, which started up my college search again. I tied it back to McIntire by discussing how ICE and the MS in Accounting program can personally empower me.
I wrote the other about how failing my first Intro to Accounting exam led to me to push past my academic boundaries to prevent it from happening again, creating a passion for the subject in the process. From here I explained how I reached the conclusion to pursue an audit profession and went into further detail about the MS in Accounting program.

Extra stuff:
One letter of recommendation from my business communications/writing professor–had a great relationship with her and a writing professor writing your letter rec is always a plus
Midterm report: 3.79 for this semester thus far (3.85 if including the two extra NOVA Online classes I’m taking this semester in order to complete my pre-reqs on time)

Not bad stats at all, but McIntire is crazy hard to get into (as you guys are well aware) and looking at the accepted students from last year’s thread and their insanely good stats have me worried

Would appreciate any feedback at all on my chances! Stay safe!

hello friends. im jumping on this forum too

i applied last year and was waitlisted so 3rd times the charm. uva has a reputation for never admitting students off waitlist so here goes anyway!

have hope guys!

Are midterm reports required? My university doesn’t properly organize grades to a letter grade until after finals (they curve the whole class, not each exam). The website also says that they are not applicable, should I just not worry about them?

@transferringlion The midterm report is not required. Dont worry about it. The dean said this on the transferring blog:

“It won’t count against applications if they are unable to send a mid year grade report in. They are entirely optional.”

Midterm reports are optional so I wouldn’t worry about it

did anyone else get requests for copies of tax returns for the “finalization of the financial aid package” on SIS? is this typical for everyone?

Nope, but I didn’t apply for aid

@wahoowa2023 I think it’s typical. Do you have inquiry access denied for just 2020 or for both 2020 and 2021, and have you submitted all the financial aid documents?

@Sol0Flyer yes, I have iad for both 2020 and 2021 and all financial aid docs in. definitely gave me butterflies when i read it lol

i still don’t have inquiry access denied and i am starting to get worried that i may not be in

I turned in college transcripts from two colleges, and only the one from my previous college shows up in the portal. I called the admission office and they said they received both, but the new one won’t show up because it’s the college I’m attending right now. Is there anyone else have this problem?

@2ef23e me too. I waive from the spring pool to the fall pool, and sis never change since November last year.

@2ef23e did you apply for aid? if you didn’t my understanding is, it may not change to ‘access denied’
