People are saying they sent their apps in November and were notified last week. I applied October 13, is this bad if I haven’t heard anything?

I applied the week before Thanksgiving and I still haven’t heard back yet.

@JTUni20 my boys applied Oct 15 and one was accepted last week. Still waiting to hear on 2nd son, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. From what I’ve seen on this thread, don’t panic. I know it’s hard. I think I’m more stressed about this than when I applied to college back in the day. Good luck!

I applied like oct 1 and still have not heard back. I am non auto

When you applied doesn’t matter. It’s not a first come first served thing. Alot depends on your gpa and the college you choose as to who will hear first.

@IAMomofTwins Thank you for the reassurance and comfort! I am literally checking this forum, the 2020 decisions, and my mystatus every single day. I have become obsessed. lol

My daughter applied1st of October was first in her class of 550 and she still hasn’t gotten her major! Very frustrating wait. Her essays were very good and her extracurriculars very strong with leadership, probably holding her back is her ACT of 30, just not a standardized test taker.

@Bailey101

Most likely it is not ACT of 30 which is very good for UT, but the list pf colleges your daughter applied to.

A lot of very qualified kids who were accepted to several ivys will most likely turn UT Austin down, even honors programs, especially if they don’t get any financial aid like 40 acres scholarship.

This is the main reason UT is waiting, because some of these students after been accepted somewhere else and decided to go there will withdraw UT application.
There was a guy right here in this topic who was accepted to Harvard before UT.

UT doesn’t want to accept a lot of kids who would prefer to go somewhere else anyway.
So some of the most qualified students least likely to attend will be accepted last.

Accepted - McCombs
Out of state
35 ACT
4.5 GPA
770 Math 2 subject test

@Bailey101 what is your daughter’s major? It has not been my understanding that UT ( as others do) hold back on the Super qualified for fear they will go elsewhere- in fact some of the honors programs get offers out to the Most qualified early on Because UT is a good low cost alternative to some Ivey’s and second tier schools( rice, duke etc). as far as test scores- 31 is the 75th percentile for accepted UT students( according to US news and World report)- this would be university wide. Business and Engineering probably tend toward the higher side. Also i checked the formula for business school and the math section of the ACT is heavily weighted . I think some of the schools have not done very many admits yet they are tweeting that they have Thousands of decisions to still release. Good luck.

Are my chances of getting in greater if I applied to a less competitive major like Spanish??

@tb2000

It is my understanding after many conversations with current and former UT honors students and some students who chose ivies over UT.

when did you apply?

Thank you for your replies… Sorry about venting ! My daughter’s first choice is computer science and second choice neuroscience. She will go to Ut no matter what as it is her absolute number one. So I wish they would take the stress off of her- as she just wants to start planning her classes and such. She is a planner :slight_smile:

Oh and she only applied to LSU and that’s it! Got engineering honors there right away!

Does anyone know if there will be a wave tomorrow? I’m dying to know whether I got in or not

Have any of the non-auto admits (in state) heard from College of Natural Sciences? I know it’s one of the largest schools at UT so hopefully that’s the reason I haven’t seen much here yet.
