Fall of 2016 Applicants

My daughter was just admitted to CNS!!! Good luck everyone!!!

I just got offered wait list unfortunately. kind of disappointed as UT was my dream school. on that regard, do all CAP students get offered wait list as well? and what are the chances of being admitted from the wait-list? thanks for the help guys

Got in EE

My son was waitlisted, Major MechE. Also offered Cap and Pace. 91 of 650. 2110 SAT. National Merit Commended. In state. Current internship during school year and for the next 4 summers through district with Global Aerospace Engineering Company.
He is already accepted to UT Arlington Engineering and TAMU general engineering.
He is very disappointed right now.

Wishing everyone good luck tonight. DS in, CNS, no decision on honors. My Status update, no e-mail.

@bengor10152 If you look at the common data set, 5/281 students got in after getting waitlisted. Yes, only five, I know it’s crazy. This was from 2013-14 I think so obviously it can change. If you accept a spot on the waitlist make sure to email, call, or contact in UT anyway just to remind them how much you’re interested and that it’s your first choice (unless that’s not true)

Accepted OOS
30 ACT
4.79/4.8 weighted GPA
Moody College of Communication

it definitely was my first choice:/. I will contact them to show interest, but from your comment, I doubt that I will be admitted. it’s worth a try I guess sigh. thank you for the information

@pschnee I read that stat wrong. It was for 2014…and the 250 OOS that were in McCombs were the entire McCombs undergrad college (all grades). Yikes. It states that 87% were Texas residents and 6% were OSS for McCombs college in 2014.

It also stated that for this current year’s class in McCombs (2015/2016), there were 1776 out of 6968 applications admitted into McCombs. Using the 6%, that would mean that out of last year’s accepted applicants of 1776, only about 107 were OSS.

These are just estimates though because I am using stats from different years. Good Luck!! :o)

@qzqzqzqzqz Wow. Not to say that it will be a lock for me to get in to college of education, as I have a 33 and a 3.8 UW, but I’m happy I’m not applying to McCombs, I would have little to no chance as an out of state. But, of course, there is a reason so many people have been successful after graduating from McCombs, as they only take the best. If I end up going to UT I will definitely try to minor in McCombs and take some classes there.

Finally have some news, my daughter got into computer science thank goodness. No decisions on her honors application, still says in review. Wishing all of you the best of luck!

@Bailey101 What are her stats?

S accepted to Cockrell school of engineering, civil engineering, 1st choice.
OOS
Top 5% (top 4% in mid year report which he uploaded in January, not sure they looked at that though) from a large high school, 970+ students
GPA: 3.97
ACT: 31
11 APs
Great EC related to major
Great recommendation letters from 2 teachers and 1 supervisor where he volunteers

We are very excited!

Son #1 was admitted to Physics a month ago. Son #2 denied today (CS 1st choice, RTF 2nd choice). OOS. 31 ACT, 3.87 u/w. I’m curious @liberalguy97 about the appeals process. Both my boys will have AA degree from community college thru dual credits in HS. Maybe transfer status is hook for Son #2. If it doesn’t work, they’re both headed to UIUC with Honors.

@IAMomofTwins Go to: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/adm/appeal/ You should see this: “I want to be considered as a transfer applicant.”

@blaugrana9
Well she was first in her class of 530-ish , that is her best stat. ACT of 30, good essays and directed towards computer science, good extracurriculars but nothing over the top .

@Bailey101 Thanks for sharing, and congratulations!

I got CAP today. If I send UT an appeal stating that I am now Valedictorian of my class, (School doesn’t rank, but that will put me at rank #1 in my class) will that qualify me for automatic admission? My school did not report Valedictorian until after the UT deadline.

My son was admitted into Computer Science! Very proud of him!
In state. Auto admit. Top 2%. Class rank #8. Excellent leadership, athletics, service and academic awards. Varsity athlete. 1900 SAT. 30 ACT.

I’m an auto-admit but I got rejected from Cockrell and McCombs. Should I just try and get into Economics on the 26th? Would that give me similar classes as a Business major (I was intending on specializing in Finance). I’m still planning on attending UT. Btw, sorry to post the exact same question as on the other UT thread.
