I just streamed the new Amazon series, Transparent. Watched all 10 episodes in one night. It was really terrific.

Shameless and Bates Motel! Two of my favorites. Shameless may be my favorite ever.

All of us Nashville folks love Deacon. We see the cast around town and they are all so nice.

I’m tired of Scandal and Revenge but haven’t cut them out yet. Watching Blue Bloods, Chicago Police and Fire, Law and Order SVU, Grey’s, Good Wife, and I forget what else.

I saw Transparent pilot, back when they were pitching them
I’m glad they picked it up.

I watched Gotham and How to Get Away with murder on emand when D visited, but I dred shows that you have to pay attention to abd watch every week. Except Top Chef . Are there any hows you don’t have to pay attention to? I mostly keep Food Network or Cooking channel going in the backround, but like Parks and Rec type stuff. I liked How to Get Away With Murder, and want to support Shonda, but can’t imagine doing the record and binge thing.

Is the Good Wife really that good? I tried watching the pilot awhile ago and wasn’t that impressed, but thought I would maybe try again.

The Good Wife was good, and somewhat believable, for the first two seasons. After that, the storylines have been pretty silly for the most part and nothing that resembles the practice of law in the real world. If that doesn’t bother you, you might enjoy it. The show has one very good thing going for it and that is the large number of theatre actors in the cast, as it is filmed in NYC. If you’re a Taye Diggs fan, he is joining the cast this season. So, excellent acting but not great writing.

Once Upon A Time had a good start last night. The Frozen characters were spot on. Regina is still the best.

The Frozen characters were perfect! I think the actress who plays Regina is gorgeous. I did love how Snow Whites daugther finally calls them ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ during the recaps.

There are only three returning shows I watch–Modern Family, Nashville, and Chicago Fire. Oh, and Shark Tank. Watched a couple of episodes of Madam Secretary and may continue with that; I have How to Get Away with Murder on the DVR. That’s enough regular TV for me!

Is it true that Valerie Jarrett had a cameo on The Good Wife last night?

Lady Lorna, I’m not sure how it works on the I-pad. I know some commenters on the site tell what they have to do to see different shows and I think there is also a help section. I hope that helps.

Yes.

Love The Good Wife, but those cameos are always awful. Ms Jarrett’s was uncomfortable to watch!

@alwaysamom, I so agree with you that Good Wife, which started out so well, devolved into nonsensical plots after the second year, at which point I bailed. I seem to abandon so many shows after their sophomore season. True Blood was another show that started promisingly, with the intriguing idea of vampires as a despised minority, and then went completely off the rails by the third year. Orphan Black seems to be heading in the same direction, and I’m bracing myself for the next season. It seems that no matter how great a TV show premise may be, it’s very hard to sustain it for years (Breaking Bad being a notable exception). We accept that books don’t go on indefinitely, so why do we need every television series to continue for years? I often wish we followed the British model, where each season of a show consists of perhaps 6 or 8 episodes, and a series has a natural ending after a few seasons.

I wish every season of Sherlock had 6 or 8 episodes!!

ooooh… is Sherlock back?

Not yet. Sigh. Will have to watch the Hobbit movie instead in December.

No; it does not even begin filming until January 2015.

I also dislike the fact that a season of Downton Abbey is only 8 episodes (9 counting the Christmas episode).

I read up-thread that Downton Abbey is airing in the UK now. Short of an extended vacation, does anyone know a way to watch it in the US (more or less legally)?
