Fall TV

^ Not sure what you mean by ‘more or less’ but DA is available on certain [cough] streaming websites.

i am not caught up on Downton by a long shot, although I may watch when George Clooney appears, although I do not think he is as charming as everyone else thinks he is.

Many of the shows I follow, aren’t starting for a while.
I watch Parks and Rec, Sherlock, Justified and Vikings, which won’t begin until winter at earliest.
Same with OITNB, and House of Cards.
Glad to hear Amazon made a full season of Transparent, but where is my second season of AlphaHouse with John Goodman?
I also am still watching Bones, but who knows why as the writing/ acting has been getting worse over last few seasons. It used to be much more watchable.
Ditto Scandal, not as compelling as the first couple seasons. I watch it for the eye candy, as the only one I care about is Mellie.
I still like New Girl, Brooklyn 99 ( which took a while to get going, but is much better than I thought it would be, it reminds me of Barney Miller- speaking of- they should have Ron Glass do a cameo) and Sleepy Hollow , Sons of Anarchy, and I also am saving Dr Who for a binge.
So many shows that I really like, were canceled after a few seasons or even one!!
I rewatch them though, and sigh.
Deadwood, Awake, Flight of the Concords, Pushing Daisies and FIREFLY! :frowning:
Endgame, I found by perusing Netflix.
Also Terriers and FortySomething, which I was told about on CC, and fans of Ben Cumberbatch should definitely watch- which also features Peter Capaldi/ the new Dr Who.

I don’t know what’s worse, a show that has a lot of potential, like Deadwood, being canceled after 3 seasons,( or one) or a show jumping the shark, after 3 or four seasons, and it doesn’t end for four more seasons, and I still continue to watch it hoping it will turn around.

I saw in the paper today that Amazon is releasing the entire second season in one fell swoop on October 24 to Amazon Prime Instant Video only.

Anybody going to watch Gracepoint? I watched the trailer, it looks like an exact copy of Broadchurch - which was so good. Not sure I’ll bother especially minus David Tennant’s accent ;)

^^^
I’m planning to watch. I really liked Broadchurch. I read somewhere not to assume that Gracepoint will end as Broadchurch does - to expect twists. I don’t know if that’s true but what the heck … I’ll get to watch David Tennant for 10 weeks.

Watching Legends on TNT (ok, the plot line is stretched pretty thin on believability) - but i’m enjoying the actors and the pacing of the show.

Looking at how to get away with murder and madame secretary for new shows.
Enjoying Castle and NCIS.
Havent given up on Scandal or Grey’s Anatomy but I might this season.

Is this the last season of Grey’s? It feels like it should be. I also am going to check on Shonda’s new show How to Get Away with Murder.

I wasn’t going to watch Grey’s anymore because I loved Christina…but I did anyway. It was fine, I’ll probably continue to watch for awhile. I also saw the premiere of How to Get Away with Murder and wasn’t impressed. Love Viola Davis, and some of the show was good…but some was a bit silly and doesn’t showcase her talents enough in that show. I’ll give it a couple more views before deciding if I’ll continue.

I like Revenge and enjoyed the Season Premiere, and I did Scandal.

So I watched Gracepoint last night and thought it was pretty good - the characters seemed “real” (not too actor-ish). I think I’ll keep it on my list of things to watch.

I never saw Broadchurch, so I can’t make any comparisons.

I watched this (downloaded for free from iTunes–no cable TV here) because two of my sibs who are lawyers were talking about it. (Totally 100% unrealistic they said, but not really in a critical way–I don’t think the show was aiming for that kind of accuracy.) I’m deciding whether I want to pay to watch the next episode. I probably will, if for no other reason that to keep up with the family conversations. I also am a little curious about why the students killed who they killed. (That’s not a spoiler–we know the students killed someone from the very beginning of the show.)

scout59, me too. I watched the first episode of Gracepoint figuring that if I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t watch further. but I’m very intrigued. And I didn’t see Broadchurch either, so this is all new to me.

Many of the shows I watch begin later in the year. I especially like * Justified*, * Major Crimes * and *Longmire *. I was excited to watch How to Get Away with Murder because I love Viola Davis. I’m not sure the pilot was enough to intrigue me, though. Could barely get through Scorpions. A hackneyed plot and terrible writing have doomed that show for me. I do like CSI Los Angeles and watch CSI on occasion because it’s on before CSI Los Angeles . I gave CSI New Orleans a try because Scott Bakula!, but I’ve been disappointed in that show, too.

My favs are The Blacklist, New Girl, The Mindy Show, Grimm, Brooklyn 99, Modern Family and The Middle. Still watch Big Bang Theory but it’s definitely tired.

I liked Selfies, The Mysteries of Laura enough to give them a second look. May try Madam Secretary and Forever.

Agent99, I think you mean NCIS, not CSI. :)

Of the shows I’ve seen, the best was Selfie because the writing is bright and there’s good chemistry between the leads, John Cho and Karen Gillan (another Scot doing American English). I also liked Manhattan Love Story, though not as much, because you hear the character’s thoughts and the female lead, Analeigh Tipton - who was on America’s Next Top Model - is appealing. Both didn’t do well so they’ll probably not survive. The best other new show I’ve seen is already done for its season. That’s You’re the Worst on FX. It follows Married, which I think is kind of lousy despite having Paul Reiser, Judy Greer and other established actors. FX has had some of the best TV this year, notably with Fargo.

I’m sick of so many shows. CSI, Castle, etc. now rely on “the big plot” which gets increasingly absurd and that, I think, is because coming up with straightforward criminal mystery cases each week is too hard. Easier to have your lead character disappear for months with no memory of it because some group with “unlimited resources” … blah, blah, blah.

This show just ended for the season but You’re The Worst was so funny and I loved it.

^ haven’t seen that. I can’t wait for season 2 of Silicon Valley, I hope it is in production.

Are they going to have another season of Fargo?

Watching “How to get away with Murder”. Yea, not great. Won’t watch anymore. Watched “Forever”, better, not great but has promise.

I’v read they’re thinking about more Fargo.

I missed Broadchurch, really wanted to see it, so was thrilled to see Gracepoint. Missed the premier but got it on On Demand. I’ve been watching Manhattan, The Bridge, NCIS-New Orleans, pleasantly surprised!, and Outlander on Starz. Just caught Gotham on On Demand, as we found out late that it is actually good. Husband religiously watches Agents of Shield and Attack of the Titans, which I cannot stomach. Looking forward to Walking Dead returning next weekend!

Series 2 of Broadchurch is going to be on BBCA sometime next year. Maybe they will rerrun 1st series before it starts.

American TV should just stop recreating British shows. David Tennant (it’s just wrong with an American accent) can’t even help this one. And Nick Notle yikes
