Favorite Odd Question Someone has Asked you About your college Applications

I just had to post this one, and wondered if anyone else had any weird questions, or ones they did not expect.

I told my elderly neighbor where I was applying Early (I don’t want to say where yet here) and she said, “Oh, isn’t that an all-boys college?”

I said no, it was boys and girls, but I guess she has really not been looking at the news. For a really, really long time.

Someone I Know: “Did you apply ED anywhere?”
Me: “Yeah, Johns Hopkins.”
Someone I Know: “Is that a good school?”

My mom, who really wanted me to put Swarthmore on my list for some reason was like “Isn’t that a women’s college?” and I was all “…”

Hahaha, yeah, I got that one, too. “Is that a good school?”

What are you supposed to say? “Oh, no, it’s just some place, you know, whatever, we don’t care.”

I was in class and a teacher was talking about college and asked one of my friends where she was applying. One of her choices is Cal Poly SLO.

Another kid in class got all excited and was like “I’m so jealous! Cali Poly (yes, he kept calling it Cali Poly, not Cal Poly) has one of the best community college baseball teams in the country!” or something to that effect.

Not a question, but definitely an odd statement, seeing as it’s Cal Poly, not Cali Poly, and a university, not a community college…
