I just applied for class of 2028, and I like a lot about mines. My one big concern is the gender ratio. What is the experience like at mines for women? is there a lot of misogyny? do women feel comfortable in such a disproportionately male environment?
You might reach out to admissions and ask to speak to a student ambassador.
Good luck.
We did an admitted students day at Mines this month. Their SWE chapter is the largest in the country. They seem to be putting their $ and the actions to use in increasing the female population there but in a genuine way. Overall we were incredibly impressed with Mines. I’m so glad we made the trip there.
Our daughter is a Sophomore at Mines and she loves it. She really enjoyed her classes and is doing great academically. She is very active in clubs both Academic and Sports. She has never spoken about any concerns with Misogyny.
I do think you should tour the school while classes are in session. You might try and make a trip there in April. We did that after our daughter was accepted and she had a chance to meet a lot of students. Additionally, she reached out to an officer in SWE who spent an afternoon with her and they are friends to this day.
