Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

Always, ice cream. Hope the next week is a little more calm @colorado_mom .

Got to run on the sand this morning in northeast Florida. Gorgeous and I listened to the surf. Going out the wind was very strong and almost stopped me in my tracks, but it was at my back after I turned around. I needed this change of scenery very badly. Will do some walking later. 4.5 miles done. I and my legs ere tired- stressful to travel, of course, and the longer run yesterday. But, I’m here and I did it!

@MomofWildChild

Have a great time!

I’m glad the warm weather people are happy. I much preferred my Sunday walk last week when it was 31 vs this morning at 68 and muggy. It hit 90 at my house yesterday. I hate it, but can’t complain. It is mid May. We had a nice run of cooler weather for the last few weeks. And next week will be 5 days of rain. As long as it doesn’t lightening from 4:30-6am I’ll be happy. At least it won’t be hot and gross.

Just the usual sunday stuff here. Remainder of the weekly cleaning, Walmart, etc. A feel a nap coming on first…

Our inflatable kayak from Costco arrived on Friday! We went to the store to do our weekly grocery shopping and got life vests - yay, on sale. Now… all we need is some better weather. Windy and rain for the next couple of days.

@ClassicMom98 - I’m with you on the weather! I would much rather run in the cold than in the heat. We supposedly have had a cool spring here in NoVA, to me it’s been great. I did run 5K this morning and it was in the low 60’s and very humid. Yuck.

That said Runners World is encouraging a “streak” from Memorial Day until July 4th and I’m in. All travel plans are cancelled for me and I run most days anyway so I might as well.

Is that a 2 person kayak @BunsenBurner ? So fun! I love (and miss) kayaking. Hopefully SOON if we can ever get to our cottage…

Expected it to be raining this morning when I woke up. Looked like it was about to so went on the airdyne for 6.5 miles. When I finished, no rain yet! So I took my already sweaty self outside for 2+ mile run (easy on the pace) to round out the morning.

I don’t like cold and I don’t like heat. We have had a nice spring and I’m enjoying the moderate temps except at night. My house is pleasant all day but gets hot in the afternoon and night.
I have respect for those of you with such dedication. I’m not a huge fan of exercise but I do it because I want to live a long mobile life and I like how my toned body looks. I’ve not been motivated to walk or run so I’ve focused on videos. I’ve done some core workouts, boot camp and Pilates. This morning was a boot camp that had a lot of squats and a Pilates mat class. Next I did my outdoor stadium steps. I was good and hot so jumped in the pool for a quick cooling off. Now I’m sitting on my 2nd story deck with a view of the water.
I live just minutes from the beach but haven’t ventured out for a beach walk. One more thing to add to my list.
@MomofWildChild enjoy your mini vacation. My H is also under a lot of stress in his job and he is finding a early morning walk on the beach and a swim to be good medicine for his stress.

@abasket - yes, a two person kayak. Mr. wanted to get a large plastic one… I vetoed that idea because it would need to be stored somewhere… pita.

I’m excited about the kayak, @BunsenBurner ! You have a great place to use it!

THANKS @abasket. I missed my opportunity to run in 60s degree weather. But perhaps when 80s this week I will get in a nice walk. For now, just work ad back/forth to help mom is my limit exercise (3x drive to her place on Friday and walk up to her apartment , that is my record). Tonight is takeout wine dinner - we DO need to celebrate DH’s birthday -age 65 today.

Not much exercise yesterday but managed to get my hour bike ride in today. Did some weights and stretching both days.
My son and his GF were here two weekends in a row. It’s great to spend some time with them.

Light rain and warm here. A morning 5K run and then, in the afternoon, a bench press session along with several sets of glute ham raises. Done. Short and sweet.

Wiped out on a wet asphalt path on my morning run. Skinned knees (I was wearing shorts), rolled my ankle a bit and cut the heel of my left hand. I’m OK. Was able to walk home (about 1/2 mile), cleaned up and took Motrin. I should be able to run in a day or 2 , but done for today.

@FallGirl Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. heal well!

My video workout was much better than my run. I guess it wasn’t raining, but it was muggy and windy and I had to stop to pee every 5 minutes. And I’m quickly losing darkness now. Boo and ugh. I felt good on the video portion “Push and Pull.” I did well with a lot of the moves. And even though on the burner round, I subbed 3/5 on pull-ups/push-ups instead of the prescribed 5/5, I was able to continuously move for the entire 3 minutes. Yay.

I also got new shoes. My last 3 pair have been Ghosts in lieu of my old Wave Riders. I like them better. However, shoes go on sale so seldom, and I was able to score a pair of Wave Riders for $75. $$$ won out. I don’t quite need a new pair at the moment, but I didn’t want them to disappear either.

I’m mourning that our local running store has a big tent sale twice a year - once in May and once in the fall where I often get a couple pairs of shoes to have ready to go. The May once seems to not be happening this year. :frowning:

I walked 3 miles this morning before work time. Rain is due and will be here the rest of the day. My hair is feeling all this humidity!! But I am not complaining!

Good morning, y’all. Did better today with the running. Went out the tree canopied path for 2 miles and hit the beach at bout 3.3. No wind to speak of today, so that went better. 5.5 miles done. Definitely humid! Walked 2 plus miles on the beach after breakfast with my husband.

Raining like Noah will back up the ark here soon. Not sure what will happen today.

I’ve been walking an hour+ most days, managed to run for an hour today. @FallGirl , I hope you are feeling better with no nagging pain.

I was rained out yesterday - I thought the rain would never stop - but had a nice 5 mile run in 50 degree weather this morning. Perfect! 1 mile walking work break this afternoon which was lovely. I miss the classes at my gym, but am resigning myself to exercise videos as the new normal at least for the next few months. They have a few really good shred and kettlebell videos on demand which I’ve really liked.
