But I know coralbrook will do what she thinks is best, as she should.

@VeryHappy

There are also a ton of MCM houses with varying shades of blue on Houze!

And a ton with red too.

And coral.

They aren’t ALL chartreuse!

Yikes, I am not a hater of chartreuse, but on a few of those linked above, it was out of place. I would repaint every one of those doors as my first after move-in project.

OK, I"ll quietly slip away. I know I will love whatever cb decides.

Actually, I’m a fan of natural wood doors!

For this house, if it was a hot market with bidding wars, it might be possible to go with a trendy door color. But it sounds like this house is already attracting a share of conservative lookers. It’s not necessary for everyone to love the front door color. But you certainly don’t want any portion of potential buyers to be startled or annoyed by it. Sure, it can be repainted, but why start out with one strike against the house or a potential price adjustment to cover the cost of repainting.

The other issue is that this particular door is not something you only see as you enter the house, i.e. a whimsical pop of color. It will be visible anytime the owners are using the front courtyard, the family room, or walking down the hall of the front bedroom/office wing. So nothing that might clash with furniture etc.

“But it sounds like this house is already attracting a share of conservative lookers.”

Do we know they are conservative? I know CB mentioned they were older than the targeted buyers she had envisioned but that doesn’t necessarily mean conservative. They’re considering a MCM house after all. If they like MCM, I’m sure they’ve seen some with bright front doors.

Repainting one door is super easy and cheap. If I was buying a home, that would be the least of my concerns.

I am a perfectionist, and I have indioor cats. Having to take the front door off for spray painting (to make sure there are no streak marks) living without a door for 2 days s a big deal. I’d rather not do that. Painting my front door in House1 was quite an ordeal.

Leave it white, place painted board samples next to it and let the new owner choose!

Haha…I wish I could just put up 2 or 3 board samples. That would make my life easy.

I loved the chartreuse on the contemporary homes linked above, but the color looks really odd on a red brick traditional house.

I’ll keep buying $3 samples. We will find one that works.

CB, gosh I wish I could give you a free gallon of a very nice aqua color.

@BunsenBurner It can be easily re-painted before you and your cats move in.

I loaded some more photos of the clear gass getting installed around the living room. On Friday we had to take down a large tree branch from the big flowering tree in the back. The branch was hanging so low it was blocking the view. And, all those pink blossoms were blowing all over the new roof and it looked really bad from the street. In my effort to get our curb appeal notched up I had to make one of the guys go up on the roof and try to sweep away all the red stuff that was all over the place.

Had a little issue with the Bosch floor model dishwasher. We unpacked it last week to find out it did not have the toe cover plate. Ooops… how did I not notice that?

I have been on vacation following along on my phone so couldn’t look at the pictures. Back at work today and took at look at the pictures. The clear windows make such a difference!! I thought I would prefer the blue, but it is too bright and of the two I prefer the coral. But if the blue was lighter I might prefer the blue.

Loving the windows and the view.

As for the door color, here are some that would appeal to me:

The last one is S-W’s 2018 Color of the Year: "A fusion of rich blue with jewel-toned green, the 2018 Color of the Year, Oceanside SW 6496, represents the growing desire for color that is both accessible and elusive. A complex, deep color, Oceanside offers a sense of the familiar with a hint of the unknown, bridging between old and new, light and dark.
…It is a tremendously versatile color, and harmonizes with other diverse color groups.”

I thought I would like the blue but I prefer the coral. I still feel the safe bet for a spec house would be a blue. I prefer the blues @Silpat linked to the more turquoise blues.

Silpat posted some nice colors. I would go up to the next color on the scale. All have so me green n them. Is that what CB is looking for?

If you want to stay in the turquoise realm, something leaning more grey/green could be a nice fresh look. This one reminds me of your shower tile palette:

Don’t run the cabinet toe kick across the bottom of the dishwasher! How would you pull out the dishwasher if need be?

This is the grey-green I had in post 626: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color-a-room/1706/front-door-9?color=641&source=%2Fen-us%2Fcolor-overview%2Ffind-your-color%2Fcolor%2F641%2Feverglades&combination=2124-60,2134-20&room=1706 Almost the same shade as the Sherwin Williams “Composed”.
