Florida State University Class of 2028 Official Thread

Oh okay. So I don’t have to check yes to LLC then?

My read on that was it was just asking if you want information about them?

Son officially paid admissions and housing deposit last night
So Go Noles
When is housing open and can anyone explain how the lottery and roommate matching works?
I have two other gators so this process is new
And I did not find the website explained it well
Thx!

Because he paid during the lottery window, he will get a lottery drawing for his number which basically is his place in line. I believe that closes on 2/24. Then he will be able to rank his dorm/room preference after he gets his number on 2/26. That happens up until 5/1. Then it’s locked in. Housing assignments then are announced in July.

Great thx!
We are a little late to the party apparently
Hope he still has good dorm options
My only experience is at UF and the housing there is not good :frowning:

Ok thx and having trouble “accepting” the vires scholarship offer
Any input appreciated

You got in during the lottery window so you have same chance at good number as my daughter who paid on first day. It’s those who do it 2/26 or later that are out of the lottery. Their number will be based on when they register for housing, but after all the lottery numbers.

Who else has fsu as their current #1 after a uf rejection?

I have kids at UF and FSU, a house divided,
They are both great schools.

I would definitely do FSU. UNC had pro Palestine rallies on campus. Sums it up.

Does anyone know if we have to officially accept the vires scholarship?
I don’t see a button
Or link in the offer letter

Have it even with child’s UF acceptance. FSU is great.

I don’t think so. I am under the impression it is automatic and doesn’t need to be accepted like UCF requires.

Same my daughter, was all in for FSU until UF accepted her. She doesn’t love the UF campus as much as FSU. Her brother is at UF, so she knows it well. She said UF might pull ahead if she gets a bad lottery number for FSU housing,

That’s pretty funny. For a millisecond, our daughter thought about UF when she got in, but it was right back to Florida State. We have been on both campuses, and in my opinion, there really is no comparison.

I agree, I personally prefer the FSU campus. I even tried to sway my son who is a sophomore at UF to go to FSU

Can you give me your comparison of the two? I have not been to either campus yet (we are OOS). The thing about FSU that is super enticing for us is the OOS tuition waiver (which would make the cost of FSU substantially less than UF). However, the animation program that my daughter is interested in is incredibly difficult to get into (and she already missed the boat on it by not applying to the program when she was supposed to). Still, I’m curious to hear your take on the two campuses.

Does anyone know if FSU has admitted student days? We are OOS and trying to plan a visit. At first glance I am unable to find out any info on this. Thanks!

I am not sure if FSU formally has admitted students day visits. Last year, we signed up for a campus tour for late March. We also separately reached out to the College of Business, where S23 was admitted, requesting for a tour. The COB administration got back to us quickly and we were able to meet one of the professors and several COB students who showed us around the college.

To add, the FSU professor at COB himself got in touch with us over email when we said we were OOS and coming down only for the visit. He was kind enough to meet us with 3 other students and go for an hour long tour of the college. He patiently addressed all our questions (as parents) while S23 got all his questions answered by the 3 COB students. It was clear it was a collaborative culture at both COB and FSU. We really appreciated this. Everyone we met at FSU that day was very helpful. That was one of the many reasons S23 chose FSU over “higher ranked” colleges in business - it was a better fit.
