Former Natalee Holloway Suspect is Now a Suspect in Another Murder

*That’s possible especially since the cost of living in Peru is low. However, people who cared about the woman he killed may be willing to pay prisoners to harm him, and guards to look the other way while that happens. *

That is VERY TRUE…her family has money and connections. $100 to the right person and this guy is room temperature.

"The 22-year-old Dutchman, who is the prime suspect in Holloway’s disappearance, confessed to killing 21-year-old Peruvian Stephany Flores on May 30 – five years to the day after the Alabama teen disappeared during a senior class trip to Aruba.

Van der Sloot has since told police investigators that he knows the location of Holloway’s remains, the chief of Peru’s criminal police, Gen. Cesar Guardia, told The Associated Press.

“He let slip that he knew the place where this person was buried,” Guardia said.

It’s been five years since 18-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Now, Joran van der Sloot, the last known person seen alive with the young Alabama woman, has confessed to hiding her body in an island marsh, according to a Dutch newspaper, and admitted to Peruvian officials that he murdered 21-year-old Peruvian Stephany Flores.

He added, however, that Van der Sloot told investigators “he would only testify (on the matter) before Aruba authorities.”

Peruvian President Alan Garc

the poor kid is scared he might get hurt in prison…

maybe he should’ve thought of that before he went on a murdering rampage.

So, now he’s willing to confess to the Holloway situation if he gets to go to Aruba?

He’ll lie about that, too. He’d get to Aruba, give a phony burial location, and then stay in Aruba. Or, he’ll make up more lies about how Natalee died.

The guy is absolute evil.

why should Joran be permitted to get to go to Aruba for giving info (again) about Natalee’s murder/whereabouts? as mom2 said, he is clearly not to be trusted anyway, so why negotiate with this murderer. I certainly respect that Natalee’s family deserves to have any and all information possible to help them have closure, and so he is finally charged in her death, but why must that include his calling the shots? seems he believes even after these two young innocent women have died he still gets to game the system. outrageous if its permitted.

"NEW YORK (CBS News) ―

Joran van der Sloot is afraid he’ll be killed behind bars, one of his attorneys says.

This, as new details surface about the confession Peruvian police say they got from him in the slaying of Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old business student.

The 22-year-old Dutchman is being held in a Lima prison cell with a contract killer, and told the lawyer he fears for his life, reports CBS News Correspondent Jeff Glor. "

"Can van der Sloot live out his sentence, assuming he’s convicted and however long it runs?

"It’s gonna be really tough. In Miguel Castro Castro, believe it or not, the first day the warden took his position there about a year or two ago, he was murdered. [said an international defense attorney who has visited Peru’s prisons]

"In Lurigancho, you have the Shining Path guerillas. There’s about 600 of them. They had a revolt one day, about 124 were killed by the police. When I went to visit a client of mine there, I had to hire two-guards to walk me through the Shining Path guerilla territory. The next day, I thought it would be better if my client visited me in the holding area - in the visiting area. And a prisoner got stabbed ten feet away from me. If he wants to survive there, he’s really gonna hafta keep a low profile.

“He’s gonna probably have to stay in what’s called ‘the tourist section,’ or ‘the tourist dorm.’ But even prisoners outside can get in there. They shine shoes, they cook for the foreign prisoners. But in this prison, you can get anything – you can get women, drug, weapons, you can get money. For $50, someone will cut your throat. If the family of this young lady wanted to pay a prisoner there 50 or 100 bucks, they’d be standing in line to cut his throat.”

In turn, could van der Sloot’s family pay prisoners to protect him?

“No,” Griffith said bluntly. "I mean, if they want to get you in this prison, they’ll get you. In fact, the day that I was there, I got back to the gate a little bit late and the guard wanted to keep me in overnight. So for a couple of cigarettes, he let me out.

"Money will get you anything in this prison and I’ll tell you, I’d be very surprised if van der Sloot makes the seven or eight or ten years, whatever he’ll get, with time off for good behavior. "

The guy in the cell next to Joran is a hit man! Supposedly their “pals” watching TV together, but I doubt it’s “above” this guy to over look that for a few bucks.

And, since Peru doesn’t have the DP, what’s the guy got to lose?

Heck, he has a lot to gain assuming that he’s paid for the hit. He’d get money and probably some congratulatory letters.

I think Joran is a good candidate to become a hit man in prison. Maybe he’ll be collecting the payment and his cellmate should be watching his back.

Good point, Cartera.

"LIMA, Peru - The mother of Joran van der Sloot, the Dutchman accused of murdering a 21-year-old Lima student and long suspected in the disappearance of an American teenager in Aruba, says her son needs mental help but is not the monster people make him out to be.

“Joran is sick in his head, but he wanted no help,” Anita van der Slot said, breaking her silence on the case in an interview published Saturday in the Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf (The Telegraph)…

If he did this, he must bear the consequences. I can not embrace him," Anita van der Sloot said. She claims that her son was in recent years developed severe mental problems. " His departure to Peru was a flight to escape being committed to a clinic."

A few weeks ago Anita van der Sloot, said, she found a note from her son: “I’m gone, do not worry.” The next time she saw him was on TV, handcuffed by the Peruvian police after his arrest.

For years, she said, she believed Joran when he protested his innocence. “I felt he had nothing to do with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005. He had left her on the beach. I still believe that. " But, she also says: " Stephany, he may have killed.”

Joran van der Sloot was arrested twice in the Holloway case but released when authorities couldn’t find enough evidence to try him. His mother says he was traumatized by the ordeal and should have gotten psychiatric help but refused.
