Low of 5, high of 18 in SW Virginia. I had to go clear the yard of dog poop and found these cool little pockets of ice crystals. Finding beauty among despair .
It was -6 at 11 last night. That’s not that cold for Maine, but since we didn’t get below zero at all last year, it seems chilly. The 5-8 inches of snow that was forecast turned out to be around 3. This lack of snow is getting old…
Last Clemson snow storm recently, saw video of student’s waterskiing
Ha! That was a thing where I grew up too, we called it skitching.
All these new cars with plastic bumpers ruin all the fun for kids these days.
Facts. Just another thing I’ve never told my kids I did while growing up. It was just so stupid, and some kids had some injuries (thankfully all minor) as a consequence.
alas
Brought the front plants in a week or 2 ago b/c they had already frozen once. One is now growing a half flower (maybe it belongs in the garden thread lol)
I’ve actually heard of the Club 360, and if I make it to one of the poles, I’d think about joining. (One bares all skin and runs around the “pole” going through 360 degrees of meridian and then hops into a sauna.) Of course, the odds of me making it to a pole are pretty minuscule.
Right now in New Orleans it’s 26 degrees with a “feels like” temp of 14. Schools are either closed and/or doing virtual learning through Thursday.
This was earlier in the day, with our dog getting his first experience with snow.
And just a few minutes ago, you can see how the snow has deepened:
But it’s good practice for our upcoming trip to Alaska next month!
Plants outside?! That hasn’t been a thing for months here!
We are in the south!! Plants stay out for a long time (or they should) !
My younger son brought in his herb plants (chives and cilantro) inside this evening.
Frost advisory in Florida, and schools are closed tomorrow.
And UF is closed until Wed at 12:30 pm (unusual choice of closing for a half day, I know).
I’m just jealous!!
Minus 3 outside. Brrrr.
-5 and -15 wind chill here. But will warm to a balmy 15 today. On the up and up after today. At least to more typical temps!
Pic out my loft room window - some hope for Mr. Sun to provide some brightness at least!
Today to go in the office, I put on a pair of tights under my pants, wore fur lined boots, down coat with fur hood and very warm gloves. I had so many layers on that if I fell down I was not sure if I could get up.
I’m loving the heated gloves I got for Christmas. They are a necessity for me when walking the dog.
Woke up to zero degrees here in MA—love the hat BTW!
