Game of Thrones- who will live, who will die, who will rule?

@fireflyscout, I don’t think Jon is going to live long enough to confront such issues.

When Beric Dondarrion died, Melisandre said that people who are brought back from the dead are brought back for a purpose. Once their purpose is accomplished, do they all die, as Beric did? I don’t know. But I don’t think Melisandre was just talking to Arya about Beric. I think she was talking to the audience about Jon.

We don’t know what Jon’s purpose is yet, but defeating Cersei is going to be difficult. It may be his fate to die in the attempt – possibly even to sacrifice himself so that others can succeed, as Beric did.

In post #200, I wrote:

Despite that, losing the 2nd dragon today was still a shock.

I think Cersei and Euron are a perfect match.

And what the heck, Jaime? You had a good thing going there.

I sort of hope Jaime does the right thing in the end, but I think he’s toast either way.

And Bran, thousands of lives were lost defending you last week. Couldn’t you provide a heads up on those scorpion crossbows?

those scorpion cross bows on the castle were scary; they made the show look more sci-fi than medieval. C is so horrible. And i couldn’t figure out why Jaime was leaving.

I have worse feelings now - about Tyrion and Varys - than I did before the battle of Winterfell.

Danearys seems likes she’s falling apart. Now that another one of her dragons is dead and now that Cersei killed Melisandra, I fear that she’s going to go full-blown Targaryen on King’s Landing. If Varys betrays her (which it seems certain he will), I’m wondering if she’ll torch him too. And will she blame Tyrion for the death of Melisandre at Cersei’s hand? Are Tyrion’s days numbered?

Have I said lately how much I dislike Dany?

And Jaime, you’re an idiot.

The dragon death was shocking and sad! And Jaime - why?!
I loved the interactions between the Hound and the Stark women.
I still hold out hope that Jaime will die in the arms of Brienne, but it’s looking less likely.
Love seeing Bronn again!
Dany and Jon will not be together at the end of this.
Deaths I’m sure if ( I think!): Jaime, Cersei, Varys, Worm, The Mountain and Podrick.

I am really losing patience with the complete lack of strategy. They couldn’t spare a few days to do some reconnaissance? They KNEW about the cross bows because they were used against her in the past. It never occurred to anyone that they might make some more? What happened to all of Varys “little birds?” Suddenly the plot depends on everyone knowing nothing.

Not to mention the fact that there is really no reason to take kings landing. In the past, Dany understood that you can hang out for a while, consolidate your rule and strike when you are ready. Not when the enemy is expecting you, and your troops are ragged and exhausted. We were told that she is getting pledges of support from all over the kingdoms. Why not simply set up an alternate capital and rule from there while Cersei sits and stews locked behind her walls. How long could she keep paying the gold company anyway? All her troops are mercenaries anyway. How long could that last before the Iron bank calls n the debt? Come on Tyrion make some good suggestions!

Tyrion is not going to survive - he might make it to the last episode since he is such a fan favorite, but he’s not going to survive.

And Sansa…grrrrr

JON: I have something to tell you but you must swear to tell no one

ARYA : I swear it

SANSA : Iswearsit (was kind of jumbled wasn’t it?!.and were her fingers crossed?)

Jon turns back

SANSA…Hey everyone, guess what ?

Not much honor in that Stark.

I hated last night’s episode. Totally agree with @gallentjill’s commentary.

Yeah, great recon. Dany. My husband and I looked at each other in the middle of the disastrous attack and said, “Maybe fly your remaining dragon around to the back of the city instead of straight into the arrow launchers?” This episode required some serious suspension of disbelief.

I actually think Sansa is being extremely intelligent and strategic. She does not think Dany would be a good queen (and I agree). Jon has a legit claim to the throne, and people should know that. Jon doesn’t want people to know simply because he’s appeasing Dany. If Dany had any honor in her, she would never have asked that to be kept a secret. She says she wants to rid the world of tyrants, but she certainly sounds like one herself. I am 100% with Varys on this.

Sansa knows full well that by telling Tyrion, she’s telling Varys…which means she is trying to make things right, and she’s being loyal to her family.

And who knew there was a Starbucks in Winterfell? I didn’t catch the coffee cup on the table at first, but it’s obvious when you look at the memes. lol

@scout59 it was Missandei who was killed this week. Melisandre was the Red Priestess who died last week.

Surprised that no one even asked Arya, the hero of the last battle, if she wanted to help out with this one? Can Bran warg into a raven and drop some poison into Cersei’s cup? It feels like they’re not even thinking about their best possible resources.

Also wondering if something is going to result from Tyrion mentioning Cersei’s pregnancy. If she’s trying to pass it off as Euron’s baby, Tyrion shouldn’t know about it.

I thought about that too when Tyrion spoke up. Euron should be wondering how Tyrion knows about this. Plus, the timing is completely wrong - isn’t she two months into her pregnancy by now? Then again, Euron may be a great fighter, but he might not be the brightest of men…

@crknwk2000 – ARGH! Of course you’re right. These GOT names are hell on my spelling ability…

Not to mention the fact that if Varys is contemplating covertly assassinating Dany, as last night’s episode suggests, wouldn’t you think Cersei would be a more immediate priority? Or send Arya in?

Arya is going to kill Cersei, but without all the fanfare. Unfortunately, I don’t think she’ll succeed.
