Arya is so adorable.

She forgot to mention Grey Wind though.

I also love Game of Thrones. Tyrion is awesome…and played by the only American actor in the show. My favorite show ever!

I have not watched episode 9 yet (but have read the books). If you have not watched, don’t go to twitter but if you have (or know what is in that episode), it’s pretty intense. :)

I am a little nervous about watching it myself.

I’m a little disappointed with this season. There hasn’t been any extremely large went that have happened. This is not to say nothing has happened, just nothing that has me squirming for the next episode.

A Lanister needs to be killed. I wouldn’t mind seeing Joffrey shot in the leg. :)

I’m glad they brought in some eye candy with Ed Skrein playing the guy in the Second Sons.

He’s supposed to have blue hair. Imagine eye candy with blue hair! And I like the Frey anti-eye candy, especially those creepy looking men with the hoods on. Very appropriate for their behavior.

I think it seems a bit sluggish because of how they’re cutting it into two seasons. Too bad they just didn’t make one really long season.

Oh, I was stunned at Sunday night’s ending. Really shocked. Ugh.

GMA had a segment that showed readers of the GOT books videotaping their non reader friends’ reaction to last night’s Red Wedding episode.
Showed the non-readers’ incredulous reactions.
This is why GOT is awesome-readers keep their mouths shut so non readers get blown away by the story like they did when they read the books.

I don’t have HBO and did not read the books, but I have a friend who is absolutely fried by the last episode! Poor thing is furious!

Having read the books, I have been waiting for the Red Wedding… this is a series where it really is true that you should not get too attached to ANY character (killing Ned Stark was a tip off to that).

On another path completely, my Ds and I think Peter Dinklage would make a perfect Miles Vorkosigan if they wanted to turn that series of books into movies. We would pay to see them. Okay, back to Game of Thrones. But just had to say it.

Oh, one more thing… Ygritte (Jon Snow’s redheaded wilding girl) was the maid in Downton Abbey who wanted to leave service and become a secretary. It took us a while to figure out where we had seen her. But… the number of British actors and actresses isn’t so large, they all rotate through all the shows eventually (Doctor Who, BBC productions, Harry Potter, etc.). So it didn’t take too long to figure out. :)

Isn’t it funny how he pronounces her name “egret”? I thought it would be more like “egreet” with that e at the end.

As for the dramatic action on Sunday, I’m a fan of the author and how he’s not afraid to pull punches. That being said, he leaves too many unclear cliff-hanger endings to be believed automatically. Reading the books, you have to look very carefully to see that Theon is taken captive and not killed, somewhere after the burning of Winterfell. Similarly, after the Red Wedding, it seems that Arya may be gone too (in the book) but it is just one of Martin’s tricks. Makes me wonder about the ending of book 5, but I won’t speculate here.

P.S. The warg guy with the eagle is played by the one-eyed skelton from Pirate’s of the Caribbean.

Arya’s reaction

My kids watch it, but I can barely watch it. I have to leave the room or cover my eyes/ears too much.

I think it’s too gory. :/

I was waiting for this episode since reading the books. The producers mentioned in an early interview the first season that their top goal was to be successful enough in ratings to be renewed to get up to this “event.” I enjoyed that they added a few new twists for us readers, and the production design was crazy good. All covered in blood, though, eventually.

greenwitch, thanks for calling out the warg guy/PotC connection. It was bothering me who he was!

You know, Robb was just a teenager in love making an impetuous decision. As I read the books (and watched this ep), I realized maybe that’s why I – a mom of same-- found this story twist so deeply frightening.

I think the Theon scenes are gratuitously gory and I can’t watch them. FWIW, they don’t occur in the book, but happen “offstage” and you hear about them later (without all that detail).

For you non book readers, there’s a terrible significance to the scene where Robb, his mother, the other guests, and then Lord Frey, each dip a piece of bread in salt and then eat it. Lord Frey is symbolically granting them guest status under his roof, with all the safety and courtesy that that implies. They, in turn have given up their weapons to enter his hall. Ah, there will be hell to pay now!

I’ve read the books and knew it was coming, but it was so well done that it was still shocking. Well done HBO!

I apparently only watched half of S3 Episode 9…I don’t know how it happened. I had no clue what you guys were talking about when you guys said you were “stunned”.

Watched the rest of it.

Holy Shift.

I almost cried. I legit had tears swelling in my eyes. When the credits appeared, I walked out, counted to 3, walked back in and the credits were still rolling. I did it again. Credits were still rolling! It wasn’t a joke! Everything really did happen! D:

Credits rolling in complete silence too. No “rains of Castamere” playing.
