If Jon and Daenerys rule together, I would…I would be so happy. Goodness, I’d be floating in a blissful sea.

CHD2013, Joffrey led the Seven Kingdoms for a very short period before he was killed. The seven kingdoms are very divided, with each kingdom possessing a strong sense of identity and their own leading families. It is not possible to lead this lot with an iron fist, no matter what they call that throne! It takes an exceptional leader to keep them united under one banner. A leader who is willing to compromise and share power with others. Cersei, for all her faults, tried to coach Joffrey, but he was too foolish and immature to learn.

Consolation, I think Jon Snow is destined for greater things than the Night’s Watch…or so I hope. I cannot wait for the 6th book (The Winds of Winter) to come out because book 5 (A Dance with Dragons) had a very unsettling ending!).

Niquii77, I like your thinking. Daenerys would sit on the Iron Throne and Jon would rule the North.

I just looked at some GOT forums for the first time yesterday, and discovered that indeed, my R+L=J theory is widely held.
Another thought: the boy Jon Connington/Griff has been raising could be Jon’s fraternal twin…

^^Agreed. It will take an exceptional person to lead well. Jon has a lot of great qualities, but most are similar to Ned’s and Ned was an ineffectual hand. Dany is the favorite of many but has not proven to be a good leader so far. Each of the other candidates has many pros and cons, consistent with G.R.R.M.'s views on shades of grey (versus black and white heroes and villains).

If the theory about Jon being Rhaegar and Lyanna’s son is true (which I think it almost certainly is), unfortunately I can’t see Danaerys and Jon both surviving to co-rule. More likely, I think, is that Dany will win the war but die in the process, having first formally released Jon from his Night’s Watch vows in order to enable him to take the throne. That seems more in line with the “bittersweet” ending GRRM has mentioned in interviews.

Season 5 Premieres April 12, 2015
I’m a recent convert, and only 84% of the way through Book 3.
Lucky you: lots to read! I was happy that I didn’t discover him until four or five years ago. I understand the the wait for each volume was agonizing to those who started reading the series way back when.
My university held a pre-screening last week. Season 5 is going to be a great and beautiful one! :’)
Didn’t recall this old thread. I recently started a Season 6 thread at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/1884897-game-of-thrones-new-season-p1.html
