I thought that East Coast kids who live near Washington D.C. should receive something today.

REALLY?!?!? where did you hear that from???

hmm lets all agree to flip out after tomorrow. or friday. we’ll flip out together.

hahaha!! :)

Well, on the letter they sent, it indicated that finalists will be mailed a letter saying if you are selected as a scholar or not no later than March 15th. Therefore, I guessed that if you lived in the East Coast you might have received it.

margobargo, lol. Yes, let’s flip out if we don’t hear by Friday. Actually, I’ve lost hope quite a while ago.

same here my friends didnt hear anything at all either, from 5 finalists from my school 3 are scholars and the other two well, WE ARE GOING CRAZY

does the gates scholarship cover traveling expenses? like i kno part of the financial package for most ivies cover at least two roundtrips tickets home…but im goin to be traveling more than that…will the scholarship cover theses expenses???

^No, it doesn’t. It only covers what your college charges you. If your college happens to charge you for two round-trip tickets, then Gates will cover them if your college doesn’t.

ehhh nothing today either. ( i dont go to school anymore. i just sit and wait on my mail box.)
i guess i have one fully day left before I start to flip out officially.

did any of you hear anything more?

nope. i haven’t heard anything. :(

does anyone know the office hours for gms (apiasf)?? cuz i try calling them whenever i get back home from school and they never pick up…i can’t find office hours info on their website…

@hahastupidme…if you look at the packet that they send you…i would call April…she stop taking calls at 5 eastern…although the general line closes at 5 eastern…

if it is 5 eastern, that means it is 6 central. but today i called around 3:50 (central) and it told me to leave a message since i was calling “outside of office hours”…i need to get my username and password.

@haha…when I needed my username…i just called april…she is the head person…idk…thats what i did…

does anyone knows if we have to pay college deposits ourselves?
(i know i’m cheap but 600 is a lot of money lol)

btw, don’t forget to join the facebook group for the class of 2008
we have like 30 kids right now…so where are the 970 that are out there?

yeah, i guess i’ll call april once i get home today. i still have to go and talk to my financial aid counselor…i think gates should pay for the college deposits cuz i agree w/ aubrey that it is a lot of money

You’ll have to fund the deposit because the checks from Gates will come much later. However, tuition deposits will be refunded to you once all the bills are covered by your school grants and the Gates award.

In so many words, you have to pay now but it’s not a cost to you as long as it’s part of the Cost of Attendance.

I Just Got The Package!!! I’m A Gates Scholar!!!

I just got the package also!!!
And Im a Gates Scholar too!!!

for the info…
I sent my stuff in on the March 13/14, my letter was postmarked on April 16 from UNCF

still nothing. West coast under APIASF. I’m going to cry now.
