IDOC is the finanical aid document upload center run by the College Board. Some schools like Georgetown, Occidental, and Swarthmore use it to have students upload things like Parent Tax Forms for past years not covered by the FAFSA, and more. Its basically where schools can bet more financial aid documents, works with the CSS profile. Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) – CSS Profile | College Board
Also, I’m pretty sure Georgetown was a part of the 568 Presidents club, which was sued for its “Need Blind” policy for favoring richer students, and more. Perhaps some of that logic still remains, perhaps not.
What I suspect has happened is that Georgetown has pulled data from the FAFSA and IDOC and seen what our perceived “aid” would have been. Georgetown is need-blind for regular applicants, but it has never been confirmed whether it applies to the Waitlist or not. I can see discussion on this exact topic on whether Georgetown is need-blind for the waitlist dating back to 2011, so it seems that it was never clarified. But considering what I’ve seen about most students getting off the waitlist being full-pay, I suspect something like this is at play.
So if we skipped FAFSA they have no idea we are full pay? FAFSA made no sense given I knew we wouldn’t qualify and it was a total nightmare this year. Skipped.
I’m considering moving on because it’s literally about to be June and still no contact or updates, as much as it hurts to say this I think It’s better for us to condition our minds to the rejection letter and by the time we get rejected it’s not gonna be much of a shock
Just made an account. I’ve been monitoring the College Confidential waitlist threads (5 of them) and it’s absolutely inspiring how much of you guys pool your efforts into this. All of you deserve the spot. Being waitlisted meant you were a perfect candidate, but just not enough space, as I’m sure most of you know.
Just yesterday, I got an email from an admissions counselor asking if I would reaffirm my interest. Told me usually when you get emails like this, you’re in good hands :). Just a couple of hours ago, I confirmed my spot and I got seriously good aid.
