Georgetown University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

This is the official thread for those applying EA to Georgetown University.

List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

Two questions on AP scores. First we didn’t realize they required official score reports for AP tests so will that impact submitting for EA? Second, on the college board site, nothing comes up for Georgetown when searching either by name or ID number (on the AP scores requests). Anyone else have this happen? We sent SATs weeks ago and had no issue there. Thanks!

For the experienced with Georgetown here, can you please advise if it makes sense for a 4.2 W GPA, 1560, NMSF, several ECs with a potential to boost GPA upward in first sem to apply EA with or rather be wise and apply with RD pool? I understand EA could be deferred to RD too but is the % of acceptance from EA to RD over RD any different one way or the other? No intentions to apply ED to any others.

3.7 GPA, 1530 SAT, PA competitive public school. Not great stats for Georgetown, hoping the essays will help.

Pretty late to this party, but here’s my stats applying to Georgetown:

School: Public Charter School (Grad class 81 students)
GPA: 3.979/4.0 (School doesn’t rank past the top 10%, so only UW)
SAT: 1360 (First attempt 1300)
ACT: 33
EC: NHS President, other leadership in several ECs, including some niche topics w/ healthcare. Been with all ECs for several years.
LORs: Strong(?) - Waived rights, but knows all recommenders very well.
Essays: Strong(?) - All my reviewers said it looked good, but I can’t make an objective choice about the essays as the writer.
Major: Applying into CoH, Global Health Major. Looking to minor/certificate in Diplomacy at Walsh if admitted.

My stats aren’t that great compared to typical Georgetown admits, so I’m hoping for the best with my essays/ECs boosting my app. Best of luck to everyone else!

We were told you only need to send official AP scores if attending and self reporting is ok. App is marked complete.

3.96UW
1440 SAT
Bio Physics Minor in Chem in Pre-med tract or hopefully CCP with Columbia for Engineering.

Started a club for disabled students to be more included in the school and an awareness committee. Rowing all 3 years of school (freshman online COVID year).

Nervous. Hoping to hear back before Friday!

Do they announce results before Friday? I am not able to understand your comment on Hoping to hear back before Friday?

They have in the past released decisions on the 13th. So it’s possible

Do they release the decisions late evening or earlier in the day? Thanks

Someone on Reddit posted that they called Georgetown and were informed that decisions would be coming out on Friday, 12/15 (not sure what time they will release)

I called as well, roughly a week ago, and the admissions officer I talked with said that REA admissions decisions will be released on 12/15 (Friday). So, unfortunately, it’s the same date as last year and not today (12/13) like prior years. She also said that applicants will receive an email that morning with more information and the exact time (in EST) of the status update.
