Georgia Tech Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Yeah but University of Florida and University of Texas - Austin both had over 90,000 applicants this session. Crazy!

Yeah, UNC-Chapel Hill also had 70,000+

More and more high stats kids are applying to state schools generally. Early apps at a few Ivy’s are reportedly down. GT is a very highly ranked engineering school, it’s in Atlanta and if you are not going to qualify for aid is about $20-30K less than some other highly ranked schools.
With OOS apps increasing and a mandate to have a certain percentage of in state students, it has become increasingly competitive- less than 10% for OOS. Based on the stats I’ve seen in GT forums, the competition is stiff. I’m curious if apps continue to increase. I’m not sure my son would have applied if he read the stats in this forum first. lol.

Yeah, my son OOS neither  Though both I and my wife are GT legacy, wondering if it will have an effect

Hope GT legacy helps! Good luck to your son!

Additionally, GTech lets you use AP credits to finish your degree in 2.5-3 years. Compare that with Ivys which force you to stay for 3.5-4 years even if you complete your major.

If they don’t admit you for first choice is it possible to get into the second choice today?

I wondered this same thing. So if a kid put mechanical engineering for choice 1 and aerospace for 2, they might have a chance for either? How does that work?

Vast majority are OOS. In state is less than 15k I think.

Legacy will not be considered for freshman admissions purposes. Legacies do not get a bump over other students. However, it is considered for certain special programs like the conditional pathway which is offered to qualified legacy students if denied. Best of luck this evening!

It makes no difference what major you’re admitted to with the exception of CS. You can immediately change when you accept your place in the class and make your deposit. There will be a form where you can fill out your major confirmation. It can be the one you applied for or a different one. I know people who applied as one thing, accepted and paid deposit as a different thing, and then first year fall transferred to a thirdšŸ˜‚.

The exception is computer science. To pursue a degree in computer science at Georgia Tech, you have to be specifically admitted to that major

I’m not sure what folio is… do you have a link? How do you get to it?

Yes

From Oscar, go to canvas, click on account and folio

I still get Houston message. This may be a good sign for you.

when I log in it brings up a page with student name on the lefthand side and center it says ā€œbuild your folioā€

This is the first time I’ve tried it so I’m not sure if it ever worked prior to this.

Once i log in in Oscar, all I get are the tabs all Users, Registration, and Financial Aid. Where is Canvas?
