Accepted. OOS Chemical Engineering 4.0 UW 1570 SAT 8 APs all 5s for those taken. We are absolutely thrilled
Thank you so much for this.
He has some instate options of Pitt (10K/year merit), Penn State, Temple, Drexel, Jefferson also.
Deferred at UMich and UNC (both OOS and expensive).
GT would be very expensive compared to Pitt with some his merit. Confused. Will have to think. But, GT acceptance was truly unexpected. Very happy.
OOS Physics deferred to RD: 1510/school topper, good ECâs, essay was so-so, something that I wasnt happy with my sonâs essay. Itâs ok for him, accepted in UIUC/UT/Purdue physics and GT was not his top 3. was told that deferred is mostly a soft rejection and chances are less than 10%. so moving onâŠ
on their website, georgia tech mentions that the deferral acceptance rate is actually around 20% from the past few years.
So I played with the database for a bit. Looks like, across all majors, in-state domestic apps are up 17%, out of state domestic apps up 10%, and international apps (wherever they reside, though that part is a little confusing) are up 13%.
Sure. CS OOS

International. Deferred. Expecting a rejection.
DS25 was rejected for Computer Engineering. Not too disappointed- he got accepted into UIUC, Purdue and UMD.
Congrats to all the kiddos who were accepted!! Best of luck to those who were disappointed. You will all end up where youâre meant to be and will have a fabulous college experience.
What is DS stand for?
Rejected for Engineering 1520 SAT 3.98/4.90 14 APs plus MV. He goes to a very competitive magnet school and 73 applied this year so we knew his chances were slim.
Obviously disappointed but it makes my sonâs decision easier. Accepted today IS to UMD Engineering plus Scholars. Will cost a lot less to attend UMD for us.
Congratulations to all accepted!!!
DS - Dear Son, DD - Dear DaughterâŠ
Thank you for explanationâŠMy son deferred as oos

Essays were on technological advancement in service of people (mission of GTech) tied to the VR club EC (Guessing this might have made some difference on the margin)
CS acceptances include: ASU, Umich, Wisconsin, and GTech. Rejected UIUC, Stanford. happy for the choices! We now truly understand when people
say that there no guarantees in CS admissions! Good luck to others!
Thats an impressive resume. Should get other acceptances in mid & end March.
GT has yield of approx 45% (40% women, 49% men) so 1 in 2 people who are accepted donât join. Deferred has 20% chance thats better than most other collegesâ deferred stats.
OOS accepted for architecture. 3.97 UW, 1540 SAT. Got deferred from a few similar schools but none of that matters as GT is by FAR her dream school and she is over the moon. I think she was helped by a super strong why GT essay and portfolio, but thatâs guessing.
Of the 20% acceptance from Deferred, does anyone know what is the % from in state and out of state. I am assuming they just average the two numbers to get 20%.
Rejected for Mechanical Engineering, but accepted to Purdue and UW-Madison, deferred from UIUC and University of Michigan. Based on my acceptances/deferrals, I expected a deferral from GT as well. Iâm more confused than disappointed ![]()
I have come to a conclusion (to myself) that the college decisions often times arenât so straightfoward. Itâs a waste of time to figure out how they accept, deny or defer/wl students. ![]()
