We have grass. It was not freezing for a few days, and the sun actually came out a couple days … we only have a little snow remaining where people shoveled & the plow pushed the snow. But it’s cold and windy today.
Yikes…if this forecast holds, it’s going to be a wild late Sunday and Monday in my neck of the woods!

An impactful nor’easter may bring blizzard conditions and damaging coastal flooding to parts of SNE Sunday night and Monday
The models have continued to ramp up the threat all day with the worst case, phased scenario that brings a stronger nor’easter closer to the coast. The brand new GFS model run is included…and it is an impressive run!
I will issue my first call forecast and snowfall map tomorrow morning as I would like to see what happens with the models tonight. But here’s what is on the table if this storm comes together as is currently modeled:
- 1-2 feet of snow across SE areas that see the most.
- 50-70 MPH wind gusts, possibly 70+ mph right along the SE shoreline.
- Significant coastal flooding across eastern MA especially for the South Shore around Scituate and Marshfield MA.
- Power outages
- Travel that may become nearly impossible Sunday night and Monday morning for parts of the area
- Multi day school closings
Snow amounts will taper down heading to the NW….but there still a decent chance this is a 6”+ storm across all of SNE and it could end up being a foot or more for most. Those details need to be worked out now.
Timing… looks like snow showers are around during the day Sunday but the snow gets steadier and heavier Sunday evening and it continues to ramp up overnight with the peak of the storm Monday morning. It’s tapering down mid to late afternoon Monday.
Stay tuned for continued updates any my official forecast map tomorrow where I drill down on the specific areas that will likely see the most snow and wind. The GFS model shown here is not my forecast - just showing you what’s possible at the moment.
Also here in southern NE—gonna fire up the woodstove, seems like the kinds of storm that could cause power outages due to wind.
Updated forecast for my SNE area…possibly a foot of snow or more, and possible blizzard conditions. Sunday but Monday sounds like a big weather day all day.
At least we are here if we need to use our generator.
Ugh …more snow…when will this winter end?
Looks decent for those there skiing!
Turned on my A/C yesterday in Atlanta and now looking at 20s & 30s on Mon/Tue.
Some slopes were closed due to lifts being buried in snow and general hazardous conditions
With blizzard conditions likely, I’m guessing our local ski area will be closed Monday.
My son is thankful we will be home during this storm since he had to dig out alone in January. He went to use the snowblower but it has 2 flat tires. Tires have had issues for years. Today my H was saying it works better with the flat tires and I asked if that is the case why don’t they sell them that way? He’s outside right now working on the truck, ignoring me![]()
We were away for the last storm, but because we were gone for a long time, we had someone plow. This time…it’s the snowblower…which in the wind is just impossible. So…clearing might just have to wait until this storm is done. Maybe a lot will blow off of the driveway!
The Colorado mountains are finally getting some snow but Denver is still desert dry. This summer should be horrible for fire danger.
Went to Philly and NYC for a wedding last weekend.
Picked the right weekend by happenstance
My daughter says they are getting 12-18” Sunday into Monday.
My daughter is flying into NYC tomorrow morning for a conference she is leading. Looks like she lands in Newark around 9:30am, so hopefully she gets to Midtown before the weather gets too bad. Guessing she will work from the hotel on Monday, as the actually conference, or at least her portion, does not start until Wednesday morning.
Good thing she arrives early tomorrow, as I see her same flight is already cancelled for Monday!
if this forecast lives up to what they are saying, later today and Monday are going to be something for a lot of us on the east coast. DH is out now filling the gas cans for the generator and snowblower. It sounds like it’s going to be a wild weather night here.
Maybe this storm is one of the ones that hit the Sierras and is now heading east. They were doozies.
I’m not sure where this came from. It’s a coastal storm that is picking up a LOT of cold air and wind from points north.
if the forecast holds, this has the potential to be a huge mess.
Good luck to you all. Hope you can keep up with shoveling and have lots of treats to stay home for a few days.
Friends in Iowa and Wisconsin report lots of snow, shoveling, and movie watching this weekend.
