Getting ready for snow this weekend?

Well…we have been upgraded to the blizzard area…

DH just fired up the generator (powers most of the house). Filled gas cans for the snowblower and generator. If it’s not too windy, he will snow blow the driveway about 9 tonight. Doesn’t really want to do a possible 20 inches all at once Monday evening.

We’re probably getting 8 inches or so overnight, and maybe another foot during the day tomorrow, with 50+ mph winds.

Spring cannot get here fast enough, between all the snow, and the single digit/subzero temps last month.

ĎD does not have to drive to work during the storm. But her husband has to work 7 pm to 7 am. He shouldn’t have trouble getting to work…but coming home in the morning is iffy. He does have a four wheel drive truck…but that won’t help with winds and drifting snow. I hope he just stays put (there are sleeping quarters for he and his fellow crew).

and Eversouce just called with their storm warning. They say potential power outages are likely, with up to 6 days to restore power. :crossed_fingers:t2:we don’t have an issue!!

I’ve had just about enough of the snow (in MA). Expecting another whopper tonight/tomorrow and my husband is stuck on the West coast. Good times. I’m just hoping we don’t lose power.

@Googie31 thank you for the gift link. The ranges on that are very close to what the local weather and national weather service are saying…basically 8-20 inches…I’m hoping for 8!

We are in the 18-24 range. State of emergency declared with travel prohibited starting at 7:00. Here we are at 8:26 and not a snowflake has fallen. I don’t doubt the forecast. But the 7:00 driving curfew seems excessive.

Well, we (in DC area) got a little more than expected last night. It’s over here now, which is good, as I have to catch a flight to Houston in four hours. I’m hoping my plane is coming from somewhere not New England.

Meanwhile, my son in MA (Worcester) has all remote classes today. He’s supposed to be running a marathon on the Cape (Hyannis) next Sunday. Fingers crossed for that. He just got new sneakers yesterday - not ideal timing, but he didn’t realize how worn down his were until he realized he had a hole in them. Hopefully he can put in enough time this week that he’s feeling comfortable in them before Sunday, although I’m thinking that time is going to be indoors on the treadmill for the next few days…

It’s still snowing here, but the wind hasn’t yet been as gusty as forecast. We have about 10 inches of snow. I think.

About 20”+ so far here. There was a brief power outage in the early morning, but thankfully our whole-home generator kicked in so we didn’t even realize it until neighbors started messaging. Fortunately, power has now been fully restored for everyone.

DH measured. We have about 13 new inches of snow where it hasn’t drifted. And it’s still snowing but supposedly this is ending soon.

19 inches and still coming down at the Jersey Shore . Power out since 5am. Thankful for a wood stove (and husband who kept it going all night) keeping the main parts of the house a very tolerable 66 degrees.

I do enjoy snow but I am so over this winter already.

Send spring!

Still coming down here. NYC has an app that shows when each block was plowed. Mine, within the hour. Not that I am going anywhere!

This made national coverage

Was that in existence prior or is that from the new administration ?

Be safe, everyone!

My D lives in Philly and is supposed to work in King of Prussia later this week. It will be her first experience digging her car out of the snow and ice and driving in this degree of winter weather. Hopefully it clears up enough before then. We are from Georgia so this is a new experience in her daily life.

On Friday, it was snowing. When I went to my car, I realized that I didn’t have a snow brush in it! So I brushed about 2 inches of snow off with my gloves. Guess my brush never got put in the car!

From the previous administration. My techie friend who developed it did not enjoy working for that mayor and now lives in Madrid. No snow there!
