I don’t like those high/low dresses, but I liked Janelle Monae’s overall look, and those pearls in her hair looked stunning - regal yet modern. I missed Evan Rachel Wood – whoa! And a brave choice, too, which I like.
@HImom, don’t most men look ho-hum next to these gorgeous women in their amazing dresses? I mean, really…
I didn’t like Blake Lively’s thingy under her neck. And I wish really pale women didn’t wear pale colors on the red carpet. (Emma Stone, I’m looking at you, even though usually you look fabulous!) Totally subjective, I know, but a little contrast would go a long way. For example: Brie Larson in that old-Hollywood-glamour red gown.
@katliamom I didn’t care for the Blake Lively thing either. Though she did look good for just having a baby.
I liked that Emma’s dress had stars on it. II thought it was a nod to the ‘City of Stars’ song from the movie and found that kind of charming. Similarly I liked Natalie Portman’s channeling Jackie O. The hair and dress was right out of 60’s Camelot but at the same time modern and fresh.
Agree about both, emilybee. Neither looked good, but JSP’s dress – to me – bordered on the hideous.
As for Natalie Portman, the 60’s look was a great nod to her turn as Jackie Kennedy; brave color (though I personally didn’t like it.) In my book NP can’t do wrong, though. Heavily pregnant or not, she always looks great.
Why is some women’s eye makeup so dark that you can’t even see their eyes? SJP and Felicity Huffman come to mind. I get the smokey look but this is past that to the “charred” phase
@emilybee
Agree with you about SJP. Though I really like her.
Disagree with you on ‘consenting adult’ He had all the power. And a lot of it. She, a 22 yr old intern. He took advantage and knew it. Then he vilified her.
