Just two days ago I stumbled across a thread here that had wonderful movie recommendations. It went pretty far back into 2012 and I was reading page by page with Netflix open adding to my instant queue when the suggestions were available. Y’all gave some fantastic movie suggestions!!! I have watched all that I had added to my queue and now cannot relocate that thread - I had only gotten to about September of 2012 on the thread when I had to leave work and stopped.

This is what I saw and LIKED them all:
Queen of Versailles
Jeff Who Lives at Home
Muriel’s Wedding
Bernie
Jesus Henry Christ (but fell asleep last night before the end)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (that I chose from a Netflix suggestion based on my viewing and it was VERY good)

Since I didn’t comment on the thread I cannot locate again, could someone direct me to it and/or any new suggestions for good movies on Netflix streaming?

I want to see “Queen of Versailles” - glad to see it’s on Netflix. And I loved “Bernie”. For those of you who like the tv show “Girls”, Netflix also has Lena Dunham’s film “Tiny Furniture”.

@maidenMom, I’m in H-town also and BRRRRRRRR…

I like The Marinovich Project, Nursery University (makes the college app process look downright civilized), and The Hollywood Complex. All documentaries…

Another cold H-town resident here … just taking a moment to wave … little to add … except that I want to watch Bernie. The articles in Texas Monthly last year caught my eye and then I forgot about it. Glad to know I can find it on Netflix.

Just added Memento, and pretty much all the other suggestions. I’ve become a Netflix junkie! Also, just figured out I could watch Girls on HBO to Go… so all caught up on those as well.

starring Julie Delpy, Chris Rock & Albert Delpy. Very funny. The sort-of-prequel to this movie, 2 Days in Paris, was on Netflix streaming a couple of months ago - might still be (I haven’t checked latelly).

So glad you started this thread - DH is away next week and I’d like to watch things he wouldn’t want to see. That means I could watch stuff that’s too violent like Tarantino or too weird like Queen of Versailles, and probably some chick flicks (though he’s usually game to see them.) Any idea if they have any good movies in French? I tried watching Depardieu movies last time he was away, and I only found ones that were so bad I gave up after half an hour.

“Songcatcher” with Aidan Quinn is very good. It is about a musicologist who travels into the mountains of North Carolina and records the Scottish ballads being sung there.

I had added the Sushi documentary from seeing recommended after adding another suggested documentary. In fact, I think I just added about 16 more unknown-to-me movies to my queue using the recommended that pop up - i think the list and suggestions from Netflix.com is much easier to navigate online than from the ROKU menu - I have so much to watch and will report back if any look great!!!

Not a movie, but one of the best tv series of all time - “Freaks and Geeks”. I doubted I would care for this show, but became quickly addicted. Absolutely loved it, and my daughter did, too.
