Good songs for exercise playlist?

I can’t help you, I’m just getting past vinyl.

Don’t get me started. CDs will never sound as good as vinyl.

Just curious Audiophile, do you still use a two channel tube amplifier?

Pearl Jam still releases vinyl :)

BTW now that I have some things on my pod- what sort of headphones do you use in the gym?
The standard Apple aren’t crap but they aren’t great and they dont stay in my ears- Idon’t really care if they are white or not- but I want something that is comfortable and not $100
any recommendations?

M&S,

Have a two channel tube preamp with separate tube phono stage, but two solid state amps used as monoblocks for planar speakers.

ek,

Check out this very informative website: http://www.headphone.com/

I have a question for the tech savvy-- DS thinks is is possible to tweak the speed of music downloads, which would allow one to match the music to one’s pace (or even push the pace a little). Is this true?

First song on my running playlist-- Tom Petty’s Running Down A Dream

If you change the speed of the song, it will change the pitch. So you can sprint to Alvin & The Chipmunks and cool down to James Earl Jones.

Is your last song “Running on Empty”?

Should be.

How about “Born to Run” ? ;)

DH just told me about a program called “Transcribe!” which is in fact “capable of applying various effects to audio such as speed change, pitch change and EQ. You can save the modified audio to a new sound file if you want.”

And forget “Born to Run”; “Glory Days” would probably be more appropriate.

Bruce–Dancing in the Dark
Billy Idol–Dancing with myself
Smithereens–Time and Time Again
Hoodoo Gurus–Come Any Time
Nick Lowe–Cruel to be Kind, American Squirm
Dave Edmunds–Girls Talk

Most of my other favorites have been said already.

But another shout out for “Roadrunner”

This is just a guess, but are you a guy? ;)

Oh, you mean because I was bragging about my equipment. :)

Seems like a lot of people share my taste…

I alway start out with…

Black Dog - Led Zeppelin

Follow up with…

more Led Zeppelin

Also gets me pumped out/working…

Chemical Brothers/Prodigy/electronica music
Rusted Root (Don’t know why…probably because of the drums…)

I’m a creature of habit…so I don’t experiment with the list too much ;)

Good one audiophile!

best workout song for me is Kenny loggins “i’m free”
from the film footloose

worst workout song for me is “Sailing” by Christopher Cross…

After reading this thread, I have the strange feeling that I must live on another planet! I haven’t even heard of 95% of the groups!

I am also only vaguely aware of Ipods. I take it you can buy individual songs to listen to, rather than paying a fortune for an entire album in order to get one or two songs?

yes, but beware of proprietary formats.
