Google BOLD Internship 2019

@astr0nomical yes, the website states that “We’ve designed our program to expose historically underrepresented students in this field to career opportunities in the industry. Students from all schools, and students who identify with a group that is historically underrepresented in the technology industry, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, and veterans, are encouraged to apply”

@astr0nomical Read this: https://www.google.com/about/careers/students/bold.html

The program isn’t exclusively for PoC’s, all are encouraged to apply. But, I’m sure they’d prefer PoC’s taking into account their very low PoC representation numbers.

Had my final interview today. Hoping to have good news coming soon. For new people in the thread it was for People Ops. This interview was my 3rd one and was focused on hypothetically based questions. Not sure if 3 interviews is normal but that’s my situation.

Can anyone DM me questions that might be good to ask one of my interviewers in regards to people Ops @ google?

@kdawg1212, did your recruiter ever tell you who you’d be interviewing with before the interview? I just asked my recruiter today who my interviews are with. The recruiter hasn’t responded yet.

Like names of the interviewers

@HeadsInTheClouds no due to confidentiality they can’t reveak who the interviewers are and if you don’t get your interviewers email during the interview there is no way to get personal contact info (I.e. email, phone number etc) for them from the recruiter b/c of confidentiality. Recruiter definitely will pass messages though!

Hey guys, did any of you guys update your transcript after the recent fall semester? If so, should I just update a new version of the transcript on the google drive folder I linked to in my supplemental form?

Thanks!

@jsp283 Taken from the BOLD FAQ: “If you have an updated resume, please update your Google Doc resume that correlates to the link you provided in Part 1 of the application before the deadline. If selected to move forward for interviews, the recruiter will work with you to ensure your resume is up to date.”

Since it’s already well past the deadline, your recruiter will reach out to you to update your resume if you get selected for an interview, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it for now.

Does anyone else have a competing offer deadline coming up? I submitted my app first week of November, filled out the supplementary form a week later, and haven’t received anything since the “What Happens Next?” email on 12/5. I got my offer deadline extended til mid January and emailed bebold@google.com but I don’t have high hopes of them getting back to me. Has anyone had any luck expediting the process due to a competing deadline?

@sanfrancsico I had an offer and I let my recruiter know when she emailed me the supplemental. I was also sent an additional form along with my supplemental that was for competing offers. My extension is until the first week of January and I have decided I am going to decline it for Google. Putting all my marbles in one basket isn’t the smartest thing but I would take Google over any offer any day. I also have only had one “hang in there email” and a “what happens next” email.

I just got my second “hang in there email” in a week. Has anyone also had this happen?

@astr0nomical I also received “Google’s BOLD Internship Experience” email!

Hey guys, so I just got off the phone with my recruiter and the recruiter shared some knowledge that I think may help put some of you at ease. I have an interview scheduled for early January and worried that my GPA (Which isn’t very high - 2.9) would be a factor in me getting an offer or not. The recruiter assured me that when offering me an interview my GPA was not a consideration they evaluated and also, the team wouldn’t evaluate it during selecting whether to extend an offer or not. Hope this relaxes those with “low” GPA’s like myself! I also don’t go to an elite school! Keep your head up,

For those of you that have been offered interviews, when did you apply?

@HeadsInTheClouds What did you do to expedite your process?

@astr0nomical I didn’t expedite the process. The department that I interviewed for is one of the only departments that has a headcount for interns this early.

I’m planning to intern in Google’s communications department!

hi all! question for those who have interviewed: how long after your recruiter first contacted you to let you know you’ve landed the interview did you interview?

It’s dependent on your teams schedule. I received an interview offer last Thursday and I’m not scheduled for an interview until early January. I was originally scheduled for an interview in late January but I asked to get it lowered. @rebounded

Happy Holodays to everyone, hope you guys have good news coming soon from Google!
