Who do think did it and why?

Well I have already seen Broadchurch.( the original)
I watched a couple episodes of Gracepoint, but between how sad it all was, how Nick Nolte doesn’t look at all like I remember, and David Tennants american accent, ( instead of his native tongue), that I decided to take a break and watch something happier.
So you won’t get any spoilers from me.
;)

I liked the original so much, I didn’t want to watch the remake. As to who did it and why – for me, at least, the resolution was totally unexpected and very powerful. Devastating, in fact…

Luckily, they changed the killer from Broadchurch, so that is the only character that I know didn’t do it. In truth, I think it is the best friend, Tom Miller. Too many red flags, and the effect would be devastating to the town.

hmm–isn’t Tom a little kid? So I think Tom’s father did it.
I think that the priest’s DNA will connect him to Susan and he is her child not the Plumber.
The Plumber and Susan and the hitchiker are involved in poaching and the Solanas boy and Tommy had computer exchanges regarding this.
The priest hit the kid because he was jealous of his relationship with the Plumber and threatened about the possible sexuality.
The Van was seen but who drove was not .
So while Mark looks like the likely suspect I think that Tom’s father is the one. He is not a devolped character and he does not come across as athentic. In the background and loyal enough to be angry and also pretty needy for attention. No doubt not the ending he expected.
Hope they do not bring in a character we do not know.

Wow Just looked up Broadchurch and realized that it cannot be Tom’s father.

Back to the drawing board.

I watched the first epi and that was it for me. The original was too good to be spoiled by lousy remake.

That they would change the killer doesn’t make any sense to me.

I never saw the original, and sadly I’ve missed a few of the current show’s episodes, but I’m enjoying it tremendously. No idea who the killer will turn out to be.

I’ve enjoyed Gracepoint, for the most part. The one character who I have found unbelievable and incredibly annoying is Ellie. Anna Gunn is terrible. Love the beautiful British Columbia filming locations. Have heard a spoiler so I won’t comment about who the killer is. :)

I’ve enjoyed both. I liked the original and the American version is more relatable to me. Funny I though Anna Gunn was perfectly cast from the first episode. If they changed the end I will be confused, everything else is pretty close. My friend I am watching with doesn’t remember the end from Broadchurch.

Interesting. I also started suspecting Tom’s father last episode. My reasoning is that he is the only one that has not had some secret revealed, Danny suddenly quit his team and stopped being friends with Tom, and the comment from Ellie about how could Susan not know what was going on her own house.

I can’t believe they changed the “who done it.” That means they changed everything that made the original so compelling. Harrumph.

I didn’t realize they changed it, but that makes sense if people are watching both.
I’m watching on Hulu, so maybe I will try and remember when I left off.

I am liking Kevin Rankin as the priest, a little switch from Justified.

^^Me, too, EK. I’ve always liked him since back when I first saw him in Friday Night Lights. Then, Trauma, Big Love, Unforgettable. He’s been a regular in a lot of different series.

I’m watching, but sometimes I think I’m just not cut out for the murder mystery genre, either in books or TV series. The show is so agonizingly slow-placed, with each episode primarily casting suspicion on a different person, red herring-style, and barely progressing the story as a whole. Then there’s the silly stuff that gets on my nerves, such as this tiny town, small enough so that everyone knows everyone else, somehow having a huge, fancy police headquarters. Or the stupid, unkempt beard on the detective–what police department would allow that? If the acting were first rate, I’d be a lot more forgiving, but I think the only one doing an outstanding job is Danny’s mother–the rest are merely adequate, and I say that as a huge fan of Anna Gunn’s work on Breaking Bad. Maybe it’s just that the script is weak and they’re doing the best they can, but all in all I’ve been disappointed in the series.

I agree that Danny’s mother is very very good. Who is the actress?

Virginia Kull plays Beth. She’s excellent.

As long as there are no new characters introduced I think that the dective did it. He might have know about the poaching (my idea that Susan put something into her freezer that the plumber had poached) and somehow got involved causing Danny’s death. He set it up so he could solve this case (frame someone) and make his name good and die in peace.

Otherwise it is Ellie. But that just seems too obvious as does Mark.
I am not a murder mystery person all but this one is interesting.

I’m watching the 3rd episode now.
Anyone who has watched both, does it seem like the clues are ham-handed compared to Broadchurch or am I just more observant?
I love David Tennant so much.
Going to watch more of Dr Who after this.
Kevin Rankin is in Wild which is opening this weekend. If only Damon Herriman (Dewey Crowe from Justified) would also be in it, it would be perfect!
