10 inches and still going strong.

We in CT are in a lull now. As far as I’m concerned, it can be a permanent lull from snow. But I know that is dreaming.

We’re in the lull right now. Called H and told him he should leave the office soon while it’s not snowing and still light out. Fortunately, his office isn’t involved in this “emergency.”

Got a text from my husband, who is in Sochi, saying that it was 72 degrees there today.

Please stay safe, everyone.

I was talking to a psych friend of mine a couple of days ago who said her office has been SWAMPED with phone calls related to depression, etc. She said she normally gets more calls this time of year but nothing like this. The winter is taking its toll on everyone- not just physically. I know I’ve felt this, too.

13" of snow here (and more is coming down now) - free to any event in Sochi that needs it!
Instead of the Snowpocalypse we had here in DC in 2010, I consider this one “Snowchi.”

PhotOP, I agree with suggestions to call hospital gift shop. I liked getting magazines more than flowers.

In Maryland we had over a foot earlier. Now it’s been snowing again… Looking at our deck rail it looks like a new 2 inches. schools are already closed tomorrow. I’m hoping work is closed too.

We got 9 inches last night and today in Northern VA. School is closed tomorrow. Unfortunately, work opens at noon.
Oh well. Maybe it will snow some more tonight so I can get another day off…

We have gotten about 12 inches in the NW corner of CT, with 3-5 more forecast overnight. Schools in my town are closed again tomorrow. Hope I get to the airport! So far my flight has not been cancelled.

Spoke with our son in SW CT near I-84, they got 10-11" with more expected tonight.

Getting paid for a 48 hour shift for my moonlighting job as a home health care provider. Snowed in with the client and the family is happily paying me to sleep on the job.

Poor husband called the factory where he works at 5:30 this morning and was told that he had to report to work. Took him nearly an hour and a half in terrible visibility and ten minutes after he arrived they closed the plant down. By the time he got back home, he called to tell me that the undercarriage of his car left drag marks all the way down our block.

Got about a foot of snow north of NYC and then some of that famous “wintry mix,” followed by some rain, just enough to freeze over on the driveway. When we went out tonight after dinner to shovel out the end of the driveway from what the snowplow threw on it, I could actually participate in an Olympic sport. Curling. If only I had one of those “stones” to slide down my driveway. It is supposed to snow again overnight. I have officially had it with this winter. I understand that Mother Nature doesn’t care about my feelings, however.
:((

Dang that Mother Nature. :)

I have family in NYC - so you think they got about a foot???

Its too bad you can’t send some to Sochi.

I hope it gets better soon for you.
Try to remember when you felt like these dogs.

@abasket—close to a foot in NYC.
<a href=“NWSChat - NOAA's National Weather Service”>NWSChat - NOAA's National Weather Service;

The new mayor kept the public schools open and he and Al Roker engaged in a lively battle via Twitter. The private & parochial schools broke with tradition of following NYC publics and the privates all closed.

We had just over a foot. @momof3sons summarized the situation at my house and out on my driveway late this afternoon.

Inland CT is expected another whack as the weathermen are now saying. Schools are trying to avoid another snow day b/c winter break begins Monday!

Can you guys export some of that snow to Southern Ca. We are experiencing the worst drought in over 20 years.

Not sure the exact total at my house but several reports nearby of 20". I estimate at least 16". At some point during the night we got 5" in just two hours. More fell overnight than what we got during the day. It took my H at least 2 hours last night to shovel the driveway. I’m hoping he won’t be as stubborn this morning and borrows our neighbors snowblower which she kindly offers every storm.

He already had to go out and shovel a path on the deck, down the stairs and in the back yard so my wee dog could go out.

Schools are all closed here today.

1"-3" more expected here on Saturday.

Well, I bit the bullet and emailed our landscaper to see if he does plowing as well. Happily, he was only a few blocks away and came to plow the driveway, for the same $$$ I would have paid the neighbor boys. And they also shoveled the front path!! Well worth the money.

Sadly, it then snowed another two or so inches. So I have to shovel anyway, but it will be considerably easier!

I have never seen Al Roker so annoyed. Now even our local FOX station reported on the dispute. And Ginger Zee of Good Morning America has joined the fray. She dug up (no pun intended) the video of Wednesday’s broadcast wherein she, the NWS and other meteorologists said what was coming and when. That just goes to show ya,’ never cross a Weatherwoman or a Weatherman unless you got you facts straight. Next thing you know, Willard Scott will come out of retirement and challenge the mayor to a fist fight. I foresee more storms ahead for the mayor. Pun intended.
