Is it REALLY supposed to snow in CT again on Tuesday? Really?

Himom—thanks for the invite! could you post your address so we know where to go when we get off the plane? Or will you be meeting us with leis? thanks in advance. :D

Only (did I just say “only”?) 1-3" for most of the state, but maybe 2-4" for your area in CT, thumper.

Well…I’m flying again on Tuesday! Just checking!!

BDL didn’t close during the last storm, so I’d assume you’d be OK.

I left the snow in Maryland to now worry about snow or ice in Ohio tomorrow. I am NOT excited about trying to get back to the airport, especially if there’s ice. We won’t be home til close to midnight, and I hear it may snow again in Maryland tomorrow night. Calgon take me away!!!

@thumper1–two to four or two to five inches supposedly. Yesterday’s snowfall amounted to almost nothing but has left us with more black ice.

We’re looking at 5.5 inches tomorrow between 4 pm and midnight sigh. We were lucky to not have that storm you all just had in the northeast, but more snow isn’t what we need. They are saying we’ll get above freezing Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but our sewers are all buried under piles from the plows so that will be interesting too.

The water softener pellets are available at Aldi for $4.00 for a 40 pound bag here - about halfway between Toledo and Detroit. It’s right off of exit 32 if you can’t find any locally. There is one hardware store here that still has rock salt and they’re charging a mint for it from what I hear. I’ve been looking for a couple weeks and a friend suggested the water softener stuff to me yesterday after he had been at Aldi.

Shell…Bradley did not close, but almost every flight in and out was cancelled on Thursday.

Cat litter may provide some traction, but it won’t melt the ice. It also makes a muddy mess that gets tracked all through the house–we learned that the hard way…

Thanks for the ideas. That grocery store suggestion was a good one, as Giant Eagle told me they have ice melt. A local pet store told me they have a “pet-safe” product coming in today, so I’m waiting for that.

Well, at least today’s storm is timed to occur on a school holiday. Sorry for those of you with ice build up. I hate that - it is so unsafe. It has been so cold here that it is all still snow. I haven’t seen my yard since some time before Christmas. Did any of you see the news reports on the ice caves at the Apostle Islands (Lake superior)? Cool ;)

Anyone know how the water softener pellets do on doggie paws??? We try to avoid putting much salt down but it’s so bad some in necessary in spots to avoid injury and when we walk doggie we still have to get from the house to the sidewalk!

I have an outside German Shepherd who has been a kitchen German Shepherd since Christmas. It hasn’t bothered him walking through it. I tried to wipe his paws, but I haven’t been very diligent about it.

Kids sent home today at 1. White out conditions from 2 until 6; now very windy. School already delayed tomorrow. They won’t go. The bus couldn’t get down some county roads at 1. The school board meeting tonight to decide how to attend make-up school was canceled. Geez…

.I really really think our state (and some others, maybe they are) should be giving waivers for at least a week or so of school. I’m going to bet attending school 175 days vs 180 yields no statistical difference on anything.

we are supposed to get 2-4" starting at 4-5am. I want him back to school. Already had a 5 day weekend (planned on school calendar) of him laying on couch with a head cold watching Olympics from 7am-11pm the entire time.

There is no place left to put snow at the end of our driveway. Our street barely passable is someone parks on one side.

Let’s not even discuss my clueless neighbor across the street and her even dumber domestic help (every day a babysitter & housekeeper) who park directly across from my driveway, such that we can’t get out…

I just want to cry and get on a plane to Florida.

Sick. Of. This.

Me too! I just don’t want to get stuck in Charlotte!

Another 4ish inches and lots of blowing and drifting here in NW Ohio. Apparently we missed breaking the record of snowiest winter ever by 1/3 of an inch - really? JUST MEASURE IN ANOTHER SPOT!!!
Day 13 of no school in 2014. In Ohio schools are allowed 5 days off, there is legislature pending to give another 4 days for this year for a total of 9. The state also apparently is allowing for an additional 3 days to be made up via online assignments or in elementary schools, “blizzard bags” - packets of work that will be due at some point (over spring break maybe??).

I’m SO over shoveling and trying to keep things passable. The mounds and hills are atrocious. We joke that there is a mountain of snow next to our fire pit on the patio - we are either going to be sitting by the fire pit on a warm spring day with snow next to us or we are going to have to light the fire pit to MELT the snow!!!

We have these towers of snow at the end of our driveway; pulling out is nerve wracking as I can’t see if cars are coming. Our street is totally down to one lane now; heard a lot of honking and yelling earlier as apparently two idiots who don’t get pulling into a side street or waiting are necessary options these days. They’re probably still out there staring each other down. :/

I can’t handle this snow anymore. I don’t know about you guys but we’ve had two snows a week since like the beginning of December I think.

I’m currently stuck at home as I can’t get in and out of my garage due to my alley being complete ice. I left Friday and got stuck trying to get back in.
