No tennis. We are all too wussy to venture out. This is probably why none of us have jobs.

Who is on this list?

<a href=“Current Top 25 Snowiest US Cities | Golden Snow Globe National Snow Contest Snowiest US City Pop 100,000+”>http://goldensnowglobe.com/current-top-10-snowiest-cities/

Note the arborvitae in my yard. I hope it recovers.

Not me.
but having lived in Syracuse this has been a pretty typical year for them. It’s like living in Siberia every year.

Hope your arborvitae bounces back. I am very worried about my Princess Yaku rhodies. Half the branches have been weighed down to the ground under frozen snow for a month now.

We’ve had that happen to our arborvite before and it bounced back!

I am in the metro-Detroit area. This winter has been weird because I feel like we haven’t gotten that much snow, but every time it snows it’s a blizzard with 8+ inches, it’s never just a light snow! But I guess we are beyond that point now and it really is a lot of snow…

My FMIL is in Grand Rapids and having a hard time. She’s been getting friends and one of her sons to help her come shovel, and it sounds like her door is icing over and getting water into the house. I wish she lived closer. :(

I’m on the list twice lol. Live in one, spend most of my day in the other. Huzzah

Wind wind wind wind wind!!! I think my house is going to blow away, or apart! yuck!

I’m also close enough to 7, 8 & 10 to make this a really snowy year. I can’t even see my mailbox. Mailman never came yesterday. There is nowhere left to put the snow when the plows come. There’s a car on our street that’s not getting moved until maybe July

Ok I just found out we’re 3 inches away from record. Ok, I can do 3 more inches for the gold.

Hi everyone - we kept power - yay! - but our car got stuck trying to get out of the driveway this morning. “We should take the truck” I said. “Oh no, the car will be fine” DH said. But all’s well. We have about 16" of snow. I DID get a robocall from S2’s college at 4:00 a.m. saying school was closed today. I appreciate knowing that, but not particularly at 4:00 a.m. Yoiks!

Romani - you win! Here’s hoping you top the record this year :-)

BT- If there’s ever a time to take a truck, I think 16" of snow is it! Did you guys get the ice too or that avoid you? With 16" of snow, the ice staying away is the least mother nature could do!

Good grief, I hope everyone is OK there. 16" of snow in March is not OK… I don’t even think that’s acceptable by Alaskan standards

Looks like we get the medal here in Ann Arbor: <a href=“Record low temperature freezes roads, crashes slow Ann Arbor area commute - mlive.com”>Record low temperature freezes roads, crashes slow Ann Arbor area commute - mlive.com;

We all know I was right! No ice, thankfully. I was talking to a friend who lives south of me by maybe 20 miles last night. He had all rain (although it changed to snow eventually). Clearly the rain/snow line was close. Congratulations on your medal ;

Thank you, thank you (but it’s a medal I could have lived without! hehe)

There are reports that el nino is going to happen and we’ll have a far more mild winter for the next two years.
Who is with me on doing an el nino dance?!

raises hand memememememe!

On the list and our record was already broken a snow or two ago…THE GOLD ISN’T WORTH IT!!! :)

I live close to #2 Syracuse. We have plenty of time left to catch up to Erie, PA. We set an all-time record today - The coldest high temp ever on March 13th! I think Syracuse means “Nobody should winter here” in Iroquois.

So funny enough, I was driving past Greenfield Village the other day and it really got me thinking: How on EARTH did people survive back then? My background is in anthropology and I have enough background to understand (physically and culturally) how we survived, but goodness me, why would someone voluntarily do that to themselves when warmer climates were accessible?

Clearly my ancestors were of hardier stock than me.

LOL Tony! Not only does Syracuse get a **** load of snow every year - I believe it is the second cloudiest city after Seattle. Why anywhere lives there is beyond me (and I say that as someone whose parents chose to move there!)

We toured Rochester NY (RIT) with both our boys towards the end of April and it snowed during our tour. A kid passing by our tour group yelled to us “The weather is ALWAYS like this!” It wasn’t the right fit for either of my boys for a few reasons but that really sealed the deal. My older S has problems with seasonal depression anyway so being in a place where it’s so often cloudy wouldn’t be the place for him to be.

SUNY Oswego is located right by Onondaga Lake and always gets more lake effect snow than Syracuse. My dtr’s freshman dorm was less than 100 feet from the water. They hook ropes up between buildings so the students can hold on to something when the wind is really blowing across the lake during storms. Eventually every building will be connected underground.
