I love Jane the Virgin; reaction of both my D’s was identical - rolling of eyes followed by “how old are you?”
I don’t think it’s on anymore, but I used to watch Millionaire Matchmaker.
“Last night I stayed up until 1am watching House Hunters Tiny Houses.” – You and me both. I LOVED the Paris studio episode. That woman is living MY dream, darn it!
You’re the only people to whom I’d admit it, but I watched Gossip Girl and Glee. And Guiding Light.
OK. I have a viewing pleasure that’s worse than House Hunters. It’s – blushing deeply here – Say Yes to the Dress L-)
Here’s some really guilty stuff: Swamp People (just for the accents), Clash of the Ozarks (I used to live in this town, acquainted with some of the “characters.”) Gilligan’s Island. Dance Moms. Toddlers and Tiaras. Any gross true crime shows–Forensic Files, Snapped, etc. Web series “Burning Love”(Bachelor/Bachelorette spoof).
“The People v. OJ Simpson” is a nonguilty pleasure for me. I consider “Modern Family” and “Madame Secretary” guilty pleasures because I think the writing (MF) and acting (MS) aren’t very good. The former is a sentimental favorite; I’m pulled into the latter despite or because of Tea Leoni’s overemoting and earnestness.
And here’s one I don’t think anyone has mentioned yet. I stand ready to be pelted with tomatoes. I have watched many episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” with D2. But she’s also the daughter who’s my “Good Wife” buddy.
When I go to the gym on the weekends, I watch HGTV while riding the stationary bike. I like Property Brothers, and will watch Love it or List it or the one in Waco Texas (Fixer Upper?)
And the only TV I watch during the week is The Voice.
When I watch TV, it’s really bad TV.
I just started watching “Mad Men” while I run on the treadmill each evening. But I’m finding it depressing. Does it stay that way??
I did watch (guilty, guilty) The Girls Next Door. No memory why, but whatever day it was on, I must have had downtime in that slot.
It’s possible to watch TV, be on CC, and actually work, when it’s from home. X_X Have definitely been guilty. But I don’t usually pay attention to the tv.
I don’t actually watch network tv that much. Or is that what we all say?
I actually did watch zero network tv for about 10 years (except sports). It’s not that I moved to highbrow stuff; it just became really predictable and boring. I was lured back first by The Office and House, then by TBBT. I still watch far more cable.
I will confess to watching Say Yes to the Dress. I am not a big wedding person or much of a fashion person. It’s like observing an alien culture.
And I can get sucked into House Hunters for hours.
Is House Hunters the show where people might be looking for a beach house in Hawaii, and then next week there is a couple who want a log cabin near Lake Tahoe and the next week someone is looking at places in Alaska and so on? If so count me in although I have no idea when it airs or what network.
What about Scandal? That is my guilty pleasure. I must confess that I do still watch Grey’s Anatomy. Years ago when the D’s were around more we we all big America’s Next Top Model fans. The only other shows like that I watched or watch are Project Runway and Top Chef. We did all watch Real Housewives NJ and sometimes caught NY.
Could I be the only person in the world that has never seen or watched any of the shows like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice as well as Modern Family, Big Bang Theory. I’ve never seen Keeping up with the Kardashians… but I will confess to a deep love for the Joan days of “Fashion Police”
No you are not the only one - I have never watched American Idol, Dancing with the Stars or The Voice. Couldn’t tell you what any of the “Housewives” shows are about.
I do watch Modern Family - but only for Cam. There is no character on TV who can make me laugh like Cam! The facial expressions, the quick wit - just the whole schtick has me in hysterics. Absolutely perfect casting of that character.
Bookmama, Scandal’s one of my network favs too, but I don’t feel guilty.
Any movie on Hallmark Channel.
We watch Grimm, Sleepy Hollow and Supergirl. When Constantine was on, we watched that too. H chose the shows and loves them. It’s something we do together, and we both get drawn into the stories, even though some of it is VERY odd and some rather hokey.
I love Prohect Runway and don’t in any way condider it a guilty pleasure. I’m blown away by the talent of many of the designers and greatly admire Tim Gunn. I’ve met hin in person a few times and he is as gracious in person as he is on TV.
1214mom,
We share tastes. Top Chef is also a fav. Also Project Runway. It is fun to get to know the people involved. I liked Carla on TC, especially when she made green eggs and ham. I was happy for her that she became a regular on The Chew, even though I don’t bother to tape the show.
“No you are not the only one - I have never watched American Idol, Dancing with the Stars or The Voice. Couldn’t tell you what any of the “Housewives” shows are about.”
Me neither. Have never watched any of those. Nor any Bachelor type shows. Nor any Survivor type shows. None of the premises seem interesting to me.
We don’t really have shows we “have to watch,” but at night we will turn the TV on to veg out and typically wind up with Big Bang or Modern Family reruns. They’re easy to follow, you can go in and out, and who cares whether it’s a new episode or 5 years old. I think Jim Parsons is great, and I agree with Harvestmoon on Cam, though I think it’s a talented cast overall.
I wouldn’t call these guilty pleasures, but if those 2 aren’t on I can be down with Pawn Stars, American Pickers or Antiques Roadshow for veg-out viewing.
