The royal family usually do not make the first name that of someone still living, so I do not think Philip or Elizabeth or Charles will be anything but middle names.
Huh? Queen Elizabeth was named Elizabeth and her mother was still living and named Elizabeth. Queen Victoria had an Albert, King George had a George, etc. They weren’t always called that, but they still had that as a name.
I feel sorry that there is so much scrutiny and criticism in the press. Pregnancy is hard enough physically and emotionally. And they haven’t been married that long.
Some people have told me they take offence to them raising their child “gender neutral” . The palace issued a denial.
Why do people pick so much???

They do not have to pick a ‘royal’ name, and even if this child should some day become monarch, he/she wouldn’t have to use the given name as the King/Queen name.
The younger children of Elizabeth and Philip haven’t stayed on the traditional Mary/Eliz/George/Henry track, maybe knowing their kids don’t have much chance of taking the thrown or maybe not caring.
The first names may not have been widely used before in the British Royal Family (or at all, e.g. Zara Tindall), but the middle ones always have at least one recycled name:

I have no idea, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Diana was the second name I’d it’s a girl.
Doria Loyce Ragland…wouldn’t be surprised if Meghan goes Loyce or Ragland for middle name for either sex child, or sticks with Markle as a middle name.
I don’t think they will go with a traditional first name. Why would they? They’ve both made it clear that, while they respect tradition, they are happy to do things their own way. I’m guessing something more in the direction of modern, like Harry’s cousin Zara.

I too think it might be possible they will use one of Doria’s names somewhere in the mix - and those name’s all sound fairly ‘gender neutral’ to me, if that’s the direction they are heading…
Most of the royals have at least two middle names so they could use one name from her family and one from his.
Recently, like the last two generations, the royal family has not named a royal baby for another royal. There are no baby Prince Phillips or Prince Charles’, for example. Yes, Elizabeth was named for her mother, but at a time when no one thought she would inherit the throne. And that was 93 years ago.
Whatever name they choose will probably end up on the UK’s top ten list for the next few years.

It was announced today that news of the baby’s birth will not be released immediately; H&M have decided to have private time, to celebrate as a family before making the announcement to the world. A royal photocall will take place several days after the birth, to introduce the baby to the public.

How are they going to keep that a secret?? They would have to have a home birth to keep the press away. There will be paparazzi stationed at every hospital. As soon as Meghan’s Mom arrives there will be speculation all over.
