Harvard will be closed for Juneteenth anyways so most likely no
maybe then on friday tho? or maybe they still do stuff on that day
Did anyone notice any changes in the portal like checklist disappearance or something like that?
My checklist looks the same.
where did you see these portal changes and when?
No. Most likely we will hear by mid july. Or my personal guess is next thursday/friday.
The judge hasn’t ruled on this case (will release the decision next monday), and in past years the AOs never released anything on the week juneteenth took place.
when do we think we will hear again or the next wave will be?
Mid-July or next week.
Trump announced two hours ago that ongoing negotiations with Harvard could result in a deal “in the next week or so.” I doubt Harvard would agree to any deal that severely restricts international students, so this may be a good sign that international students will get the closure they’ve been hoping for. This also leads me to believe that waitlist decisions may come out sooner rather than later.
but didn’t harvard say smth about they may accept a different quota on how many internationals and all? is that what the deal may be about?
The “final deal” is Trump caved.
I doubt that. In the past weeks Linda McMahon has mentioned Harvard starting to cooperate. It could be something as small as Harvard presenting programs they have to the admin saying they are “new”.
I just think it is them talking about programs they already have.
Nytimes
At the meeting, Harvard representatives showed White House officials a PowerPoint presentation that laid out measures the school has taken on antisemitism, viewpoint diversity and admissions.
No.
so if they have a deal, it likely means no more off the waitlist or very limited (aka nothing changes for us?)
No, many students have enrolled at other unis such as Cambridge and oxford, and many students still haven’t been able to schedule an appointment. Also, “Harvard has been flooded with inquiries from incoming international students about deferring their enrollment, school officials have said.”
The deal will not affect admissions with international students in the sense of stopping them from entering. Could it include something about increasing domestic admissions? Possibly, but I think it may be more of a deal focusing on ideological shifts within the university.
so do u know when the dust is settled how this will affect waitlist? like is there a certain time we will know by? also what about the us just now directly entering war with iran?
The war has no effect on the waitlist, unless it has a direct effect on international visas which I doubt. Most of the spots that will open up are because many international students are taking a gap year.
Personally I think next week, but Harvard has told their transfer students on the waitlist it will take at most until mid-July.
hmm okay but transfer students may be a diff story right? first year admission is generally higher priority right?
Today I called them and asked like when we can expect to get any update or decision as it is almost the end of june (and also on our waiting list, it was mentioned we will be notified by the ned of june). But as soon as the guy heared about the waiting list, he became so rude. And he said that there is no update on the waiting list yet and he doesn’t know when we can get any update. But added that as soon as there is any update they will let us know.
I also asked, “if the class is full?”.
He said he also doesn’t have that info.
I don’t know really, what is happening with them, sometimes they tell the class is full, sometimes they say there will be a weave and sometimes no update.
