harvard hasn’t even announced internally how it will be responding, so i doubt they’re going to the waitlist just yet
I think they will pull from the WL within 1-3 weeks from now as the situation unfolds.
perhaps, but they’ve got 72 hours to respond first. i’d be surprised if they didn’t try to get through that first.
Even if they did, I doubt the current administration will care. They will just reiterate, “We did not receive the correct information,” or even worse, use the information provided to go after current students.
I think an injunction comes first. And I think this will get held up in court before Harvard needs to replace international students.
yep. but i think for harvard, replacing international students from the waitlist is plan b. i don’t think we’re on plan b yet
I’m an international student with US citizenship still on the wl, what do we think my chances are looking like???
did you apply via common app?
Sure, an injunction can happen within 1-2 weeks, but that disregards appeals, which could affect Fall 2025 enrollment.
Even if Harvard wins in court, by the time:
SEVP is reinstated
I-20s are reissued
Students schedule visa interviews
Students get F-1 approval and book flights
It’ll be too late for this year.
We are most likely going to get there. In a past but different case regarding the DHS, SCOTUS, and lower court over TPS for Venezuelans SCOTUS sided with the current admin.
If a smaller court does try an injunction, more likely than not SCOTUS will remove it.
You are considered a domestic applilcant who is studying outside the US, not an international student. You do not need a visa to go to college in the US. I can’t speak to your chances of getting off the waitlist (or if Harvard will take anymore students from the waitlist,) but your chances are higher than the international students on the waitlist.
What did you put on the Common App? There was a whole section dedicated to whether you were a US citizen or not.
I know i’m considered a domestic student studying abroad, just wondering what this means for my waitlist chances??
Unsure. Little to no effect other than what you submitted on your original application and LOCI.
anyone know if next weekend is the next wave? or is it mid june?
Probably June 5 or 12
based on specific data? their letter this year said “most” will be decided by end of may, and all by the end of june, so i kinda assumed it would be mid may, then a week break and regroup, and then last weekend would be another major wave. thoughts?
No it is due to SEVP and the ruling on may 29
hey, do you know anything about kids who are international (foreign citizenship) but not on a F or J visa? Technically not a victim of the revocations but idk how harvard will see that in terms of waitlist.
If you applied domestically, you are fine.
